OK, I’m discounting the strength of the competition, just going by the W-L numbers. With that as the criteria:

ACC 11-3

Big 12 7-3

Big 10 12-2

Pac 12 7-5

SEC 7-7 (including South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt, which obviously put 1 W and 1 L on the ledger)

Pac 12 and SEC had the worst week one, then, but Big 12 not far behind.

In games involved Top 25 teams:

Tennessee was extremely fortunate to survive Appalachian State in overtime, 20-13.

Stanford found Kansas State irritating and troubling, 26-13.

Michigan State only beat puny level Furman, 28-13 (Furman has been one of WVU’s gimme payday opponents).

Clemson only beat Auburn, 33-23.

Oklahoma lost to Houston, 33-23. Ouch!

LSU lost to Wisconsin, 16-14.

TCU survived South Dakota State (!), 59-41.

UCLA lost to Texas A&M, 31-24.

Florida only won its gimmee payday game against Umass, 24-7.

Notre Dame lost to Texas, 50-47.

M anhandled Missouri, 26-11
