Let's nitpick the scheduling a little bit.

Both Duke and Virginia ended up being the late games in their sweet 16 games. The idea is to have the higher seed have more time in between games, I thought. Of course that means they win their games. They don't want to schedule two one seeds to play at the same time, I get that. But with Duke and Virginia being the 1 and 2 overall seeds, shouldn't it be unc and Gonzaga with the late games Thursday and Friday?

Maybe I am just annoyed that Duke is playing the late game?

That's generally how it's done in conference tournaments. It's never been done for the NCAAT, though. This is all about money. They don't want Duke and UNC playing at the same time.

That's why unc should have the late game. I am just glad we play on Friday and not Thursday. Doesn't make a huge difference I suppose. I am going to watch it either way.

*I suppose to your point about the money. There will be more nation wide viewers watching the Duke game, so having them play at 6:30 PT is going to allow more viewers than if they were to be playing at 3:30.

What does FTB think? I wonder how odd it is watching games on the regular at 3 or 330

Or having football games start at 10 o'clock in the morning. On one hand, it's nice to have a few beers while watching football and I would feel like a bum drinking at 10 in the morning. On the other hand, the afternoon games would be over at 4/4:30. Leaving plenty of time to enjoy the outdoors. Unless of course you wanted to watch the evening game which would start at 5:30. Hmmm. Pros and cons.

Late games don't bother me as much as early games like at noon or 2:00. I HATE those

I’m happy about it. I thought we were gonna get a game around 7 and i wasn’t gonna be able to watch it but since it’s 9:40 I’ll be able to catch most of it. So I’m not complaining lol

I don’t mind late games for the most part except for when they’re on Friday nights because Friday night is my only night that I’m able to get out of the house and it’s hard to focus on the game when I’m at the bar because there’s so much going on and with us playing at 9:40 I’m going to have make sure that I’m at the bar before the game starts.

The Duke/UNC games always start after 9 pm (at least the first game on Wednesday). It could be a calculated decision to allow west coast viewers to see the entirety of the game. A 7:15 tip would be 4:15 in LA, so west coasters in this scenario would probably miss the entire first half before they come home from work.

$$$$$ — The west coast would have still been at work or just getting off. That hurts ratings which hurts pockets.

It’s better for ratings to have 1pm and 4pm games. Usually west coast teams won’t have 1pm games even if they’re playing in central/eastern time, just so the fan base of those teams aren’t watching games at 10am.

I’d hate to live on the west coast as a sports fan. No such thing as sports past 8-9pm.
