Gene Chizik won a national championship with auburn and then went to work for Larry Fedora (who came from southern miss) at UNC..so it is possible. like ive stated over and over again, no real thoughts or constructive ideas only troll behavior.

You have to remember that this coaching business is a "buddy" system. Ohio State needs joker Phillips about as much as we need Mark Stoops. These guys are not doing much more than drawing a check when they get titles like "quality control". This staff is already way overpaid. No need to make up a title for someone.

I would bring Bear Bryant back. That should do the trick.
The fact that Franklin is an offensive coach and, therefore, would not be a great hire as defensive coordinator is a real thought. That Strong and Franklin are extremely unlikely to take assistant coaching jobs (immediately after leaving two premier jobs) on a staff that is potentially on its way out the door is also a real thought. It may not be what you want to hear, but that makes it no less valid.
Getting top notch coaches is undoubtedly important, but their fit on the staff and desire to build the program are equally important. Ill fitting pieces and coaches that would use UK as a one year placeholder would not further the building process, in my humble opinion.

I honestly don't think you should have all kinds of problems on the side of the ball that the head coach has a background in. If you hire a head coach based on his background as a d-coordinator the last thing you think that you would have to worry about is the DEFENSE. You can't tell me as bad as this defense as been that Mark Stoops just stood back and did nothing up until two games ago.

This is the most ignorant thread on Earth. Didn't read it so I'm sure someone with a brain has already pointed out that there is absolutely no way that guys like Strong and Franklin are going to come be coordinators at Kentucky. Strong was a successful coordinator at Florida, a successful coach at U of L, and a mediocre coach at Texas. He will not have to stoop (pun intended) this far down to get a job. Same for Franklin. We might be an attractive head coaching job for both of those guys, but they aren't coming here to coordinate and they certainly aren't going to coordinate for a lame duck coach like Stoops.

The commentary can't be constructive in the manner you wish it to be because in order to construct anything in any facet of life, there needs to be a solid base or foundation. In order to get to that point, posters are trying to correct you so that we can build the skyscraper on cement and not a side of Everest.
To try to appease you, I'll say that Franklin wouldn't be a good fit and that I doubt Strong comes to Kentucky. I would appreciate bringing in an old Nebraska Huskers HC to be our DC, but not Franklin.

I am not sure Stoops is strong enough to handle all those alphas, Meyer, Harbaugh or Saban would be the only ones who might be able to keep those names under control.
When Franklin went into Vandy he had a strong core of redshirt juniors and seniors from the previous years. He may not have built anything but took advantage of what was already there.
Maybe that explains Penn State.

The national media seems to think that Franklin is really on the outs at Penn State. I really don't get that feeling at all from people I know who are Penn State people, like my dad. I think the insane, unheard of, number of injuries they are dealing with give him a good excuse.
Plus they are still not working with legit Big 10 depth yet in the 2 deep. I expect Franklin to stay put for at least until the end of 2017.

UNC / UK football,, same thing, pretty equal success really. I mean UNC is currently 2-2 with a bad home loss to a team they had beat 35-10, gave up 35 points in a half to team that would lose to a good high school team, and absolutely got boat raced at FSU,,, oh wait, no they are not the same thing. Taking a job at UNC is a hell of a lot better gig than UK. Got any more dumb points I can set you straight on ???

Fedora was a head coach for 4 years at Southern Miss where he led them to 12-2 and a top 20 ranking prior to taking the UNC job back in 2012.
