I put up a like but don't like it at all. Was looking forward to seeing if a healthy Thomas Sirk could have a great season. OFC

Multiple sources including Durham Herald reporting Thomas Sirk out for year most likely w/Achilles injury....Terrible news, prayers for this young man and his family...

another topic. chris rumph (who many services blew their eval on) had a sack, a blocked punt and an interception tonight in his opener. this kid will be a stud lb for us.
so i gotta ask this question. if daniel jones is named starter and performs well does parker transfer? he would be a senior next year behind a redshirt sophmore and an incoming 4 star elite frosh. have read on a few places it might happen quick.
Its an EXTREMELY VALID question Surf! My take is the same...When I initially saw Daniel's hs video I was VERY IMPRESSED!! I said that kid could be the next Ben Bennett!! Hey I know he was under the radar at Char Latin, but still what a gun!
Conversely Boehme played well last yr- a decent game at home vs Pitt(1st start), but people forget he nearly brought us back from the dead at UVA!! Time will tell, but you have to wonder about PB's mindset rite now...Hopefully despite Sirk's loss, we have at least TWO guys who can step in quite capably...I simply have to believe Daniel's camp has been something to behold!!

I can see us winning more than we lose this season, some of the recruits are going to be really good. I saw Mark Gilbert play 7 times last season in HS and he's very exciting to watch. I think we'll have some talented freshmen make big plays and 7-5 or 8-4 and a decent bowl game could happen.
Will take it and RUN!!! Need one more breakout WR I think and hopefully talented freshman Scott Bracey's hamstring is on the mend!

the one guy you keep hearing about is johnathan lloyd. looks like they finally figured out where to use him. lest people forget he was a huge get in 2014. he picked us over schools like clemson, florida, miami, notre dame, ohio state and south carolina to name a few. great 6' athlete who hopefully has found his spot at wr.
And surf thanks I was VERY REMISS in omitting Lloyd! Tremendous athlete who could probably play 4-5 skill positions including qb. Indeed my friend, he could be a Godsend at wideout!!!

I guess that's why you try to recruit as many qb's as possible. Some may get hurt, some may transfer and some will change positions. I'm glad we have Coach Cut and staff to figure all tht out so all I have to do is cheer for Duke. OFC

QB Daniel Jones officially announced as opening nite starter by Cut this evening! I still anticipate a healthy dose of Parker Boehme, at least in short yardage situations. Per Surf's tip earlier Jonathan Lloyd will also be at a starting wideout....

I'm really pleased with the participation we are getting on this thread even if it is on the BB board. Hoping it picks up a lot when the season starts. It may get some of the BB posters to join in and become football fans also. Thanks to all who are sharing their thoughts for our football team. OFC
Just out of curiosity, why doesn't Wilson start at running back? That's not intended to be an opinion that he should. I remember he was a big deal coming in and seems our most dynamic running back. Is it a matter of consistency or strength?

duncan is the between the tackles bruiser. you wear on the dl with him then bring in the speed and shiftyness of wilson ie gut punching then land the haymaker. they will probably get close to equal carries.
dbav brought a great question, and great answer surf...I agree w/dbav per Wilson's speed/versatility (can even play wildcat) but Jela is a bruiser indeed. I still recall Duncan banging so hard on a run his helmet came off his freshman year at Wake!!!

just a final comment on our running back situation. add in a senior joseph ajegbe, zach boden, nico pierre and freshman stud brittan brown, we are as deep and as good at this position that i can remember. this is one reason that i feel mr jones will be okay because i think cut will feed the beasts. also hope we blend in our tight ends for some control passing yardage. damn we have some offensive weapons this year. when we find our groove watch out.
We need to utilize the TE more like we did in our ACC Coastal winning year '13....It seemed like Boone was constantly finding Deaver in clutch situations that year....

And just to reiterate regarding the RBs, my question was in no way and indictment of the staff or an attempt to give my own judgment on the decision. I was just curious. I trust this staff.

Can't believe I'm going to be in the area on Saturday and won't be going to the game. Weddings during football season should be outlawed. Even worse, the wedding is in Chapel Hill.
Agreed. If this wasn't one of my closest childhood friends, I would be bailing on the wedding altogether. Can't believe I'm going to be on the road during such a great opening weekend for college football. Just a shame.

I can't remember a year when I want Duke to beat unc as bad as I do this year. Maybe it's because they're supposed to be so good this year or what they did to the visitor's locker room two years ago and fedora's reaction to the bill being so high. If he had a grip on his football team it never would have happened. Your immature, undisciplined football team goes and vandalizes Duke's property and you have the arrogance to complain about the cost of repair being so much. It didn't take fedora long to learn the tar heel entitlement did it. OFC
