Anyone see his match last night? 6 seconds in the Oklahoma kid shoots and immediately backs out while Haines sprawls. Haines hits his chin on the kids head and is immediately out for a split second. He tries to get up but immediately knew he was out so just laid on the mat. After concussion protocol they let him wrestle. The video clearly showed that he was out. What do you all think, should he have been allowed to wrestle?

Par for the course. Cael let Kasak go back out last year when he got knocked out too. I think he got his bell rung the match before too if my memory serves. He must not care about the wellbeing of his athletes because head injuries are nothing to screw around with.

Yeesh. I guess the doctors were independent and cleared him, but this was a regular season dual...just pull him. Don't mess around with that.

I wouldn’t want my kid under the care of those doctors. He was obviously KO’ed. I don’t care if they change the rule so a concussion loss doesn’t go on someone’s record, but they have to do something to ensure the athletes’ safety.

I commented in the Kasak thread. He was KO on the mat, at least for a brief moment. I would not have let him continue, even if he passed concussion test, another blow in that match could have triggered something dangerous. But that's me, I've seen too many concussions.

I saw Cael sit matside and not go back of the house to check on his wrestler 😀
He can't. It's an independent medical review. The coach cannot, nor should not, be near the athlete in this situation.
Cael still could have opted against letting him continue but he cannot be part of the evaluation.

I wonder what TnT would do. The wrestlers would want to go no matter what but too many times the symptoms show up hours or even days later. In an insignificant dual I'd opt for holding him out...but I'm not the guy in the corner.

Does the independent doctor watch the video or just do an evaluation? Because I feel like an evaluation shouldn’t even be necessary if they watch the video.

Like dtripp said, sometimes symptoms take awhile to show up. If you have obvious evidence of loss of consciousness then that should be a wrap.

You may know more than me in this case but I didn't think he could go back while the review was going on. I guess in his eyes, either the doc clears the wrestler or he doesn't. If he's not cleared, then maybe he shows a bit more concern.
I would’ve at least thought he’d at minimum stand up and at least follow him back…. Not aware of any rule against showing concern for your athlete.

There's Daboll illegally going into the blue tent to check on his QB, and there's Cael ( :devilish: ) appearing to give zero F's about his athlete. One just got fired, the other will continue to stack up elite recruits. Sports are strange sometimes

It’s a medical evaluation only. They aren’t watching any film of anything.

That said, one of the questions is normally “did athlete lose consciousness at any point?” so either that question was skipped (unlikely), the person that escorts him back didn’t see it so didn’t say yes (possible), or the athlete didn’t know and/or lied (possible).

Thanks. Needs to change though, that’s just a terrible system. Should be very straightforward to watch the replay first.

If the independent med examiners are there for that role, I find it hard to believe they would be watching price is right reruns on their phone instead of the wrestling. They saw what everybody saw.

You don't know this. Heck, you don't even know if they have anyway to watch the match or not.

He can’t.

Do you really not understand how this works?
Of course I do. But, don’t you think he could have talked to his athlete after the evaluation? Don’t you understand how “giving a **** about someone” works?

I didn’t say he should be sitting in the evaluation but he could have left the mat and checked with his athlete in private.

Absolutely not true. He can't partake in the exam, but he can check on his wrestler while he is on the mat. It is only after it is determined that a medical review is needed that he must give way In any case, there is nothing in the rule book that says he can't show enotion.. So, I'll ask you the same question. "Do you really not understand how this works?" Geez.

When I watched it, I was amazed at how fast the evaluation went. I've seen a few at the ncaa tourny and they seem to last a long time, this one was quick IMO.

Let's be honest. This is the cesspool and everyone acting righteous, pretending they care about Levi's safety and well being is transparent. Acting like that's why he shouldn't have returned isn't fooling anyone. Let's just say it... the only reason you wanted him to not return was so he'd take an official L on his record.

Only your second post and you’re already in contention for dumbest take on the board. You have a bright future here. Well done!

When we watched live my wife (no pics) said there is no way he will be able to wrestle. He was knocked out. I understand the process but I still don’t understand how he could have been cleared.

Nice goal post moving. Your lessons with MSU are paying off. Cael literally couldn't go to the "back of the house" to check on his wrestler.

Edit: if he had left the mat to go back to check Levi in private, you'd be on here saying that Cael had the doctor in a headlock forcing him to allow Levi to continue.

My first and last reply to your dumbass before the Ignore button hits, so enjoy while you can.

What possible fing difference does it make if he has an L on his record? Idiot.

Lets not get this twisted, we all hate Penn State but not because you are good at wrestling for the past numerous years. The answer is actually very different than that. It's because of the way you ALL handled and continue to handle the Sandusky molestations. They should have burned every building on that campus to the ground. And now, on top of that, the Starocci stuff comes to light and the accusations are from a Penn State wrestler no less and you all do the same thing again. Minimize, deflect, gas light the accuser, cover it up, act like it didn't happen. The whole country despises every one of you because you are all ENABLERS of the worst things humans can do to each other.......

So glad you know my intentions and can read minds. Bottom line, any decent parent who cares about their kids would have been nearby if they were injured — you can add coach here as well. Best it, B!Tch!
