It's not that he doesn't have the money to spend capriciously on toys and trinkets that go with, no doubt undeserved wealth acquired only as a result of white privilege, it's that he doesn't want to waste money on something we deserve and should consider a right of all Americans....cheap, unlimited energy.

I'm not sure if it's a scam or skewing the data.. but I've yet to meet someone who isn't using more energy than the average person. Where are all these energy savers they speak of, because I haven't met one.

I get the same ******** letters. Funny thing is, I built my house 6 years ago and got it Energy Star certified through LG&E. It's an 1800 sq ft home with spray foam, 20 seer hvac, super effecient windows, all LED lights, energy recovery ventilators, gas tankless water heater, etc...

My electric bill rarely goes over $100. Despite being HERRS rated below 50, they still say I'm using something like 130% of my neighbors. This is even more ridiculous considering most of my neighbors homes are over 3000 sq ft and over 150 years old.

I want to mail them back the response envelope full of poop every time they send me that garbage.

I get those letters every month about me using 20 to 30 percent more than similar houses. I keep my thermostat on 70 in the summer of course I am using a ton of electricity.

Guys they are just setting you up for when they tax you for using too much of your fair share. Cap & Trade.

Mine is at 78 in the summer when I'm not home, and 65 in the winter when I'm not home. I also have dual fuel condensing heaters that are > 95% efficient.

I don't know what their scam is, but it peaves the hell out of me.

Mine has been budgeted at $239 for a 1980 sq ft home. It's absurd but we figured out it was the HVAC running non-stop and pretty much wrong since we had the old unit. Mark it up to lost $$ on account of me being ignorant. You could have an issue with an old inefficient heat pump, but you'd probably already know that. I actually look forward to getting my electric bill this month.

Which part was running continuously? The air handler under the floor?

We've shut off all the registers downstairs and all the rooms not used upstairs. Not foolproof obviously. The room above the garage is always much warmer than anywhere else in the house so you may be right.

I thought closing the registers actually made the system work harder and less efficient?

I get the same letter, opened it and read it first few months, now straight to the garbage. Kentucky Power put in for a 17% rate increase, but they say they have refinanced debt, so now they only want 15%. Anymore of this "cheap natural gas" I may apply for heating assistance. Thanks Obama!!!

It'd be funny if you called them to come do an energy audit or whatever but you just took a fat dump on your AC unit or something and like "ohhhh hahahaha guess that's why my energy sucks. Thanks for taking a look guys".

Well for years here in Western KY we had awesome utility (Electric) bills. Jackson Purchase Power had outstanding rates. Then they lost a contract to an aluminum plant and something else. Rates up 20%+. Called for an energy audit they use to do but no more and free at the time.

They have an outside source from Colorado try to come give us one for $100. No thanks. We had new meters installed a coupe of years ago (???) so we are now finishing a levelized billing cycle for a year.
