I got my LG&E bill today and in the envelope was a letter describing that they are requesting an 11% increase for electricity that would bring in an additional $41 million, that they would send $36 million back to LG&E customers over the year or something like that. Did anybody else see that and if so, what are they doing?

Haven’t got that letter but I did see that the city, surprisingly, is pushing back against the increase.

I just got my bill. Late mail delivery during Christmas. Not only are they seeking approval for an 11.6% electric increase but also an 8.3% increase in gas.

It seemed like they were raising the pricing and then redestributing the money. Probably not to me though.
Don't blame Louisville and Lexington for fighting these increases at all. Horrible optics too to try to pull this off during a national pandemic when people are already behind on their utility bills as is.

I do autopay for my bill, so I don't get any paper bills. I'm going to keep my eye out because I would expect some form of communication about this via mail or email. So far I've received neither, and my bill just got paid on the 16th.

Why would they be increasing rates at a time that raw materials are low? It's almost like they expect a big spike in gas and oil for some reason. Can't imagine the reason. I mean... we are finally energy independent so it can't be linked to the Middle East.
It's an extra $18 per month for the average customer. Supposedly to pay for upgrades to reduce downtime during outages and create more charging stations for electric vehicles.
We definitely don’t need more charging stations. Do people pay for them when they use them? They should be.
When the Green New Deal hits this will be happening every couple of years.
Here in Kentucky we are paying for new natural gas plants as we close down the coal plants.
There are a lot of people in this county that think with the increase in electric cars we will reduce our consumption of fossil fuels. That isn't going to happen. They have no clue what produces the energy to make electric cars run.

Gotta pay for that new pipeline they are going to dig right thru Berheim Forest because Jim Beam asked for it ... but apparently doesn’t want to help pay for.
The makers of Jim Beam bourbon asked Louisville Gas and Electric to supply additional natural gas to expand operations at its flagship site in Clermont, but didn’t want to pay for a new gas pipeline, according to subpoenaed records from the bourbon maker.
A year later Louisville Gas and Electric went before utility regulators to ask for ratepayers to shoulder an estimated $27.6 million for the 12-mile-long natural gas pipeline. Jim Beam was not mentioned in that request.
