Mount Carmel AD Dan Lecount sent this out today would love to see this get some traction.
These have been very difficult days for everyone in our country. As we remain sheltered in place, many in our local communities (health care workers, first responders and essential workers) go to work every day, risking their lives.
Last week we began the tradition of turning on our stadium lights from 8:00 - 8:20 PM on Friday night to honor those brave heroes among us. Light is synonymous with hope and optimism. Lighthouses guided ships to ports long before there was GPS. Friday night lights in our stadiums are amazing experiences for our school communities. Last week, St. Rita, St. Laurence, Br. Rice, Montini, Marist, Andrew, HS, and Warren HS all joined in the gesture. Loyola and JCA, who do not have stadium lights joined us in spirit.
I extend an invitation to you to light your stadium lights from 8:00 to 8:20 PM every Friday night until the quarantine is lifted as a symbol of hope. Use the #LightsForTheFight to let everyone know of our support for the fight against the virus.
I pray that you and your family are safe and healthy. I look forward to the day we are back at St Laurence, sitting socially distanced, at our monthly meetings.
