More than likely this reason. Oklahoma will be always the 3rd or 4th rated team in the SEC behind Bama, Georgia and maybe LSU most years. Worse even for Texas, because would Texas recruits want to go play in the SEC instead of staying at home in their own state? The elite will go to the SEC, but the majority probably would not come to a school like Mississippi State or a Vanderbilt.

Thanks for posting. Sort of amazed at the arrogance of OU fans. They consider it an impossibility that Riley would go to the far worse job of LSU. Riley is young ans super successful, he should allow himself to be wooed and interviewed. How does Riley know if there aren't any better jobs than Norman if he doesn't explore this? And OKL fans should know the way you get raises at your current school is to interview elsewhere.

If he was smart he would take the usc job. Take the easy path to the playoffs each year like he does at Oklahoma. It will be hard for him to do that once he gets in sec.

The thing about this report that does not ring true, IMO, is Riley flying to LA mid-week. I can see him meeting with LSU officials, but IMO he is not flying to LA unless it is to finalize an agreement. Anything that needs to be discussed can happen over zoom, or the LSU people can fly to Norman and possibly nobody ever finds out about it. But there is no way Riley is flying to LA. He is not a guy who has to go for a job interview; his record gets him any job he wants.
