OC, my friend, please don't pass that on. Cookout is a great place. Here, they're very busy even up until the time they close which is 3 A.M.
Hopefully, the Lincolnton location got additional staffing. I remember in 2021 they were extremely in the weeds because of short staff. You couldn't complain just understand that they were doing their best and wish that It's still existed.

LOL, it’s a popular restaurant, here. The reason I said something is because I thought you might know him since it’s headquartered in Thomasville.

Had a few encounters. They’ve been here about twelve years and moved from another part of NC. He bought Kyle Petty’s house and a whole bunch of commercial real estate. There are no signs on any of his buildings, so a lot of folks here don’t even know it’s headquartered in Thomasville.

"Stress and long work hours" - aka what every HS head coach and assistant coach in America deal with every day. I would have probably just went with "personal reasons" or just resigned and leave it at that.
I feel much better knowing how you'd have done it it the big city. You are hereby banished back to the 4A boards.

Also learned that if you somehow change your name on here, your old posts follow you to the new name! Who knew?

Not sure if an announcement can precede the next Board of Ed meeting. I think that's mid January. I wish they'd call an emergency meeting, lol There's a couple of inquiring minds that are gonna hurt themselves with the mental gymnastics they are trying to complete to gain the necessary knowledge!

Creeping the grounds, changing names on the boards, slinking around corners...this is great stuff!

Whomever is hired is gonna lose a month of work, that would likely be very important to the program. But, it is what it is.

RIP Franco.

I coached football at the 3A and 4A levels for about 10 years, so I do know what the stress is like, and it's real. I also grew up playing at a 1A perennial/traditional power - so I know what it's like to have the extremely high expectations on you as both a player and a coach.

Understood. It was your criticism of Byrd's exiting words that got you banished, lol. In a small, or big town, there are few positions with more stress, I'd imagine. Some love it, some would as soon live without it. Stress, good or bad, welcomed or not...takes a toll. Coach Byrd is a good guy. Nobody here thinks less of him for his word-choice or transparency.

Your latest insight is valuable. You are no longer banished. Mind yourself, tho

You're right - and Lincolnton is one of those jobs that you mention, maybe I was a little tough on his exiting words - so I apologize for that. I just feel like it gives some of the people in those communities where football is such a powerful force unlimited ammo anytime his name is brought up to say. "Oh, he couldn't take it - he couldn't put up with the stress and expectations".

I see your point, and it's correct. There's already competing "stories", some spread by his "friends". Not helpful to anyone, in my opinion. The next coach will live the same reality, and will be expected to be playing for Championships. And he will, when he has the team to do it. Just like every coach before him.

Interesting times for a number of programs, each awaiting that "guy" !

Go Wolves!

Glad they are keeping it in house.
Not a done deal quite yet, just what I speculate. If they do choose to go with Angle I hope he does not make the same mistake that Gibson/Byrd made by attempting to be the OC as well. IF Angle is the guy then I would like to see Cloninger call the plays, but we will see soon.
