Lindsey out for Rutgers?

The announcers were talking about Lindsey working out before the Maryland game with Coach Gates, and how he looked good. They brought up conditioning as being a possible issue after the illness. I think there's a decent chance he'll play against Rutgers.
We match up well with Rutgers without Lindsey as Rutgers does not shoot well from the outside. Still I'd like to see him get some minutes.
In my estimations, we lost 3 of our top five players this year- Lindsey, Rap, and Falzon. Our starting center was out for what, like 9 games too? With them back hopefully at full strength next year, we will be even better. Without Lindsey, we are only 1-3 now- even though two of those losses were to ranked teams (plus Illini). The question is- can we and will we beat Rutgers without him? I do think and hope we can, but I'm not sure if we will.
Yeah, but who knows what surprises the NUBBHAG (NU Basketball Hating Angry Gods) have in store for the program next year. We just got to keep fighting through all the bad luck.
We will be insanely tough next year! My guess is MidVale Dave and Turk rejoin on here to see our run to the elite eight!

No sense in complaining. Its one year of sacrifice. We will be a top tier program soon with Coach C and the new facilities!
I know it is selfish and perhaps inappropriate to mention this, but I am kind of not bothered by having games at Allstate arena/formerly Rosemont Horizon. This is the case because it is only a 5-10 minute ride from where I live now with my wife. Plus, the parking is a lot better than in Evanston. I will be able to get to almost every game next year with no complaints. I am looking forward to watching the most talented Cats team in NU history next season. I hope and anticipate that we will start and finish next season as a ranked team. And we should make some serious noise in the NCAA tourney next year- even more so than this year if we hopefully make it for the first time.
Actually it's probably easier place for the majority of NU fans to attend. Right off of an expressway and a toll road, with lots of parking and even the food and restrooms might be an improvement. The students, band, cheerleaders and Willie will be bused over, so I would expect that the attendance will equal that at W-R and likely exceed the numbers if NU challenges for conference championship and a NCAA berth.
I too live just down the road from the Allstate Arena, and am selfishly okay with this arrangement. Pay-to-Park is going to be the only downside, although it surely will be less congested than the West lot.
well, hopefully you're right and perhaps we will even pick up some new fans who are more easily able to come to games. i'm skeptical that purple attendance will rival this year's, but would be happy to be proven wrong. we certainly will have plenty of room for the opposing team's fans too, with the seating capacity there more than double WR.

Ehhhh. Band and cheerleaders yes they are under the AD so will be coming regardless, although sadly I suspect that membership in the basketball band could decline with the longer commute. I remember trying to convince drummers to get over to WR for women's bball games (and sometimes men in bad years) could be tough at times, when you add the additional commute both ways it creates a larger hurdle - either with classes on the front end for early evening games, or just in terms of when you'd get back for the late games. Same thing for the students at large - while the school will provide shuttles, it adds probably 60 extra minutes RT for your commitment. That will deter some people unfortunately.
And while it may be more convenient for some of the older alumni, for young alumni who live down in the city Central St can be reached fairly easily by Metra or L, while Rosemont will be more difficult from both time commitment and logistics.
I wish it weren't the case, but I think you're fooling yourself if you think attendance will be equal to what it would be at WR. At least the team should be good!
The seats are so flat and far from the court; it's not my favorite place to watch a basketball game. Say what you want about W-R but all the seats offer a great view. The comfy-shmumfy couch is tempting compared to Allstate Arena.
I guess there really aren't too many options, though. Sears Centre would be nice if it were a bit closer. Loyola would be nice for some of the non-conference creampuffs, but wouldn't cut it for the Big Ten games.

just about everything you say is true but when NU played at DePaul I seem to remember that there was a good purple presence. DePaul and Rosemont are different animals but still think that NU fans will come west, especially if the team does as well as expected.
Agree that it's not a great place to watch a game but remember that the seats in the 2nd deck were pretty good.
How about the students? How many bus's? They are really starting to get into it.. That Indiana game was wild.
Not sure but for the NIT games vs. ND and DePaul, NU fans were in the majority. Also the band numbers were huge, drowning out anything DePaul fans and band could muster. I had my friends from DePaul state after the game that they were both embarrassed and envious of the NU turnout.
I remember watching DePaul games at Rosemont Horizon back in the early 80's with my high school friend and his parents when DePaul was in the top 5 in the country. His parents had season tickets and we had great seats. I recall it being a lot of fun. I have been going to NU games since the early 80's as well. That has been a lot of fun as well. I for one am looking forward to sitting on real seats at WR instead of the high school style wooden benches at the games. I anticipate the games at both venues AA-next year and in WR the next will be very comfortable and exciting as well. I have nothing but good vibes about NU basketball- now and in the future- regardless of where they will be playing.
Yeah. It's prob agreeable to all to say that it will be easier for some, harder for others. And that if the team wins that will help convince more people to make the trek out there.
Also it's worth noting that I think attendance for a one off game would be easier than sustaining attendance out there over the course of the season.
My only problem with the benches is knees in the back that will disappear with theater seating
I enjoyed going to Alumni Hall when NU played its home games there during the renovation of McGaw Hall, especially since we had a good team (by NU standards) that season. With the excitement around the program next year, I'm sure there will be plenty of students showing up at the Horizon Center.
I hope Lindsey is feeling better and able to play against Rutgers, even if just for very limited minutes getting his feet wet again.
Allstate is actually closer to me as well and I look forward to seeing more weeknight games. But I expect quite a falloff of student attendance and that's a bummer.

If NU makes any kind of a run in the tournament this year, the athletic dept. should be able to publicize the easy access, Chicago's B1G Team, Team on the rise, etc, etc and win over a few fans with a good season next year. Every indication is that the team will be very good next year so the publicity buzz will mean a lot.
What will they do to provide the Students access and incentive?
Will beer be sold at the games?
