This is where I'm at with Zrno as well. Also - we tend to want to continually throw players away but then lament when they do leave and eventually get better ......the fact that there are active threads on Woolf, GG and Simpson and some of the comments wishing we still had them supports this.

First of all, the world is completely different now and it’s not simply a matter of kids staying with a program on scholarship. Zrno started off collecting a pay check - he’s almost certainly ones of the 5 highest paid players on the roster. The American frosh, in contrast, likely collected very little. If the season ended today, you can’t pay Zrno what he got this year to renew him without bumping a lot of others to that same rate because to this point he’s been outplayed.

In terms of the players you mentioned, GG did nothing last season at Nebraska so I don’t think he would’ve helped us. I’m sure Derek wasn’t really our decision. He’s a leader type and probably did not want to play second fiddle to Dylan and Ace. Not keeping Wolf turned out to be a very stupid mistake because we didn’t even end up replacing him on the roster. To this day I do not understand, if we weren’t to go after a center in the portal because we were afraid of upsetting Lathan, why on earth did we let Wolf go? We must’ve had money to pay PJ, and company. I can’t imagine it would’ve cost more to keep Wolf. What did we think we were getting in high volume mid major shooters who don’t play D?

Do you consider $300k very little?

We have no idea how much Zrno nor the American frosh recieved outside of podcast conjecture. The average salary in the Bosnian league he came from is like $10K per year.

I'm not debating that we should have kept GG. Woolf & Simpson IMO would have helped the team last season vs some of the transfers and frosh (outside of Ace and Dylan). What I am trying to say is that even though many want to bury the guy and have written him off the team after this season, I haven't given up on Zrno (YET).

My point still stands and it’s not even about him. It could be anyone. Money is involved now and only a business. Different. If he’s getting only 10k and wants to be on our roster of course you keep him. But if he’s costing us 400K you wouldn’t renew that of the season ended today. That would be ridiculous. Obviously if he bumps up his 3 point shooting average to 36% and starts having more of an impact things could change.
