Iowa -20.5 O/U 149.5

Season two of the Ben McCullum era begins tonight as Lipscomb (0-1) visit Iowa City. The Bison lost last night at SE Missouri St 86-79.

I think the Hawks come out fired up on their opening night and get the 92-63 victory.

Interested to see if Trey gets more minutes and it was a message sent in exhibition or if he's just not going to be used in rotation
agreed. You would think for ben to take him with a reclassification he was sold on his talent level. But maybe he was wrong about development ability. So if he doesn't see court this year one positive i guess is he likely will have a new roster spot next year. But hopefully Trey responds and starts showing what ben needs to see to earn court minutes.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't 1 of the Iowa reporters say Trey Thompson looked like their best player during an open scrimmage for media?

Is there a story/reason/explanation for why Lipscomb is playing on two consecutive nights?
Logistics and Budget would likely be my guess?

The Lipscomb Bisons men's basketball team is playing on consecutive nights because of the overlapping demands of a unique season-opening schedule. [1, 2]
Rather than playing in a standard holiday tournament (which is when multi-day back-to-backs normally occur in college basketball), Lipscomb finalized a challenging, travel-heavy non-conference slate: [1]
    • Monday, November 2: They tipped off their regular season on the road against Southeast Missouri State (SEMO) in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, falling 86-79.
    • Tuesday, November 3: They immediately traveled to Iowa City to face the Iowa Hawkeyes at Carver-Hawkeye Arena for Iowa's season opener. [1, 2, 3]
Mid-major programs like Lipscomb frequently accept "guarantee games" against Power 5/Big Ten opponents (like Iowa) to secure significant financial payouts for their athletic department. Because high-major teams dictate their own home-opener dates, Lipscomb had to construct the very front of its schedule around Iowa's fixed November 3rd availability, resulting in an immediate, grueling back-to-back road trip to start the year.

Kind of like the women play Eastern Illinois, and then the next night the men play Eastern. They'll probably travel together on the same charter. SAVE$$

Yeah, except this is the Lipscomb men playing last night at SE Missouri and then traveling to IC and turning around and playing again right away tonight against us. It's not the women one night, men the next night, shared travel kind of deal.

Ol' Doodle's sure it's not unprecedented, but it's kinda weird. Of course, the MONEY they get for doing it isn't weird at all, and that's probably the main point.

Can't believe it was the 2015-16 season he played here. Only 12 games and poof! Sat out the next year after the Portal.

I was thinking 2019 or right before Covid. I remember him being #2 but that would have been Nunge later Toussaint then.

I also thought Fleming was on the team that beat Cincy and lost in OT to Tenn second round but that was after him.
