Perhaps Mingione's biggest fault as coach has been neglecting in state talent.

I saw this up close and personal with the Drew McGowan recruitment. I'm friends with the family. He was excited to go to UK but never received a written offer and wasn't asked to commit when on his official visit. Miss State swooped in with a full ride. Mingione had the nerve to get upset with the family after he committed.

I know Miss State has a stud pitcher from Paducah Tilghman.

With no KY teams in the tournament, I think it would be interesting to see the amount of talent that is out of the state but in the ncaa tournament.

I would be curious with this as well. If I get some free time, I’ll see what I can find just in the SEC. The rest of the country would be extremely hard to do.

I posted yesterday that UK has 10 players from KY on the roster. 5 of those are leaving or have already left. There could be more.

Louisville has 17 from KY.

Braydon Runion is a sophomore from Florence, KY that first went to Walters State and is now playing for Texas Tech. He started 11 games and hit .200 for the Red Raiders. Looks like he plays some infield, some RF and DHs.

Jackson Haga is a freshman from RHP from Bowling Green class of 2019. He is on the Liberty roster, but don't think he pitched this season.

Kyle Harbison is on the Indiana State roster. Link to picture because it is absolutely 1970s/1980s epic. He's a catcher that went to Scott County High. Played in just 5 games and hit .200

Colin Burgess is a catcher from Tates Creek playing for South Carolina. He's started 44 of their games and is hitting .244. Sophomore

Drew McGowan, as we know, is a sophomore outfielder from Hopkinsville. Started 8 games for Miss State and hit .212.

Jackson Fristoe also on Miss State is from Paducah, a freshman 2020 class. A righty that started 12 games for them in 2021 and had a 5.29 ERA. Pitched 5 innings against UK and gave up 2 earned runs.

Brock Lucas is an IF/RHP from Breckinridge County HS and he is at Tennessee. Only made one appearance on the year and did not do well. Has an infinity ERA after giving up 3 runs in less than an inning.

Grant Knipp is on the Alabama roster, I think. From Louisville Male. Didn't play in 2021.

Drew Baker is a freshman catcher on the Wright State roster. From Boyle County.

Cameron Smith is a freshman infielder from Lexington Christian. Playing for South Alabama. Also don't think he played any this year.

Grant Hotchkiss a teammate with Drew Baker at Boyle Co also signed with Wright St. Looks like he’s leaving and in the portal.

If McGowen got a full baseball ride, he did the right thing and should never look back. But with that production in year 2, UK probably isnt kicking itself over it. Can't use up a whole scholarship for that.

Now if its a bunch of partials, with baseball being a slim piece of the scholarship puzzle, maybe UK could have tried a bit harder.

Absolutely NO WAY a kid gets full ride in Baseball.
Only 11.7 full scholarships allowed.
Stud pitchers get the most money

Now maybe he had enough other scholarship money that MSU made him whole but full rides do not happen.

I know baseball is non-revenue producing sport but schools need to up scholarships to at least 17-18 in my opinion. That 11.7 is ridiculous.
