List of things no longer needed (that we still have/do)?

I did not know they still make phone books, I've not seen a new one in at least 10 years.
Nor did I know there was still any Blockbusters.

I think for the "standards-based grading". That is a bad idea, as "met, exceed, or needs help" can be too subjective. Sounds like performance review grading, which companies are moving away from (slowly). And it categorizes into only 3 categories, which is the wrong direction. In a classification like that you would see probably 75% in the "met" category. Well that doesn't differnentiate those any from each other. The fewer categories, the more information is lost.

"pennies". That was a nice one, probably the best answer anyone could give. I completely agree.

I also agree with you said "Fax machines". I am shocked when insurance requires you to use one, like who the F has one still! There is no reason they should not be able to accept/use email.

To the one who said "Filing taxes - without taking party sides - just figure out a better way". There is a better way, it's called The Fair Tax. A bipartisan plan that's been around for years to do away with the IRS, replacing it with a national sales tax, which includes a monthly rebate to offset the taxes paid on "necessities" to help the poor.

I still use an alarm clock. My phone stays in the other room at night so I’m not tempted to look at it when I can’t sleep. Instead I read a book. Also don’t have a tv in my bedroom

Like someone said above, the phone book but even worse, who would pay to advertise in one? That sales person needs to be commended for a job well done.

Why are there still retail stores selling DVD's, sometimes at $30 per movie?

Alarm clocks

Land lines
I had a previous employer who didn't want to pony up for money for Indeed for our recruiter in charge of hiring but then went and spent thousands of dollars for a print ad in the Herald Leader as if this was 1997. Genius.

As for DVDs, this is where I'm a tad iffy. Streaming has certainly killed the need for most of it especially since some are hitting streaming crazy quick. But then what do you do when they pull the movies off the streaming services? I've got too many from the past but I've bought maybe two movies in the last two years that weren't at Half-Price Books.
X 10

Grammys have always been a joke, I hardly ever watch TV so Emmys are a non starter, and have not watched the Academy Awards in probably ten years. Couldn't even tell you any current movies out right now. Something about water, I think?

By the way, make note that miracles do happen, warrior-cat and I agree on something. There may still be hope for peace on earth, good will towards men. :)

The awards are filled with a ton of politics and BTS deals. Movies that very few people actually went to see yet the same types will frown upon something like Top Gun Maverick, a movie that made a ton of money and audiences and critics both loved. Somehow that's less of a movie than a foreign flick or an artsy depressing film that made $45K at the box office.
