I'm all for this, more players on the team should hold their teammates accountable. You can't control a lot of things in sports, but effort is the one thing everyone can control.
Jason hatcher.
First, I am a big KD fan. Not because of what he says now, but because he weighs 230 pounds and runs 4.6! KD has leadership ability, but all football players know juniors and seniors will never be jerked around by a new arrival. I think enrolling for the spring semester will be enough of a head start for KD to make our 2016 depth chart and play a role for our team next fall. But to address what you said, we have had lots of winners and great competitors in every class Stoops has signed. That's the kind of athlete Stoops and Marrow recruit. But they all have to prove it. These new signees are the best class yet, but they haven't faced college competition, college classes, offseason conditioning, April and August practices. At this point, talk doesn't count for anything. These new kids still have everything to prove, and I think most of them will prove themselves. On the field. Not with their mouths.Kash wants to win. This class has some fierce competitors I think we have enough winners that the losers don't have very many allies.
My biggest fear about our recruits, them getting sucked down by the beaten down players already here. Remember the Pat Towles story he told about when he first arrived, he ran all-out in a workout sprint and dusted the entire team. Left him wondering "WTF, I shouldnt be the fastest dude here?", then an upper classmen came over and chuckled, "you'll learn".
All the guys in the previous recruiting classes thought they would be different, thought they would change the losing ways at UK, thought they would bring culture change. But then they get assimilated like the Borg into accepting losing that permeates the media & the fanbase. Rich Brooks said it 13 years ago, how do you change UK football, bring in enough guys who don't think UK just has to lose to Florida, Tennessee, Georgia. Eventually he somewhat did it.
Unfortunately we are not quite there IMO, not enough Woodyards & Burtons & Tammes & McClintons & Woodsons on the roster. But with Daniels & others in this class & from last year hopefully we are on the road that way.
JoJo Kemp is one of the only winners I've seen on this team. Juice Johnson is another.
based on y'alls responses I'm tempted to click the "Show Ignored Content"....but nah, not gonna do it
whoever it is I ignored them for a reason!
Well your entitled to your opinion but I couldn't care less. I understand how stoops apologists are if you're not all in then you get bashed on here.
Incorrect. Days ago, Kash Daniel called Courtney Love and Jason Hatcher the leaders of the defense, and said that they both lead the players in the weight room, and doing voluntary practices. Try again, Troll.
Also, andreiIGUODOLLA needs to leave. He's absolutely awful.
I am not going to say that coach Stoops is the best thing to ever happen to Kentucky football. BUT I am willing to give him the chance he needs. We have suffered for many many years so I do not think a couple of more years to prove himself is a real risk. He is recruiting at an unprecedented level for UK. His coaching ability and decision making is suspect at this point, but I just do not think that it is time to bail on him. He really improved his staff after this past season, that I am willing to bet on. He has made mistakes in coaching and in hiring but overall I like the direction we are going even if to most of us we appear stuck in the mud. The SEC is a huge hurdle to climb. One step at a time, baby steps, is the best that we can hope for.Kentucky is never going to hire a Nick Saban or any big name coach. I not only think that coach Stoops will be successful, I also think that once he IS successful that he will be loyal as well. Just one mans opinion. As for you, and your posts. You are always too negative, and that gets on my nerves. Maybe I was wrong for using the word stupid, maybe irritating would have been a better choice of words. We are all entitled to our own opinions but like most of the rest of the people on here, we are tired of hearing yours. It isn't so much that we disagree with them as it is how vehement that you come across. You always seem to me to be in attack mode. That is how I see it. I apologize for calling you stupid, I was out of line. For all I know you may have a PHD, but it is the ferocious nature of your attacks on coach Stoops that annoys me, take a deep breath and relax. Personally my belief is that you thrive on throwing chum in the water and watching the sharks attack. All I keep hearing is how much of an idiot I am for not being all in with stoops? I'm not exactly hearing logical points. Can't you at least hit me with the "the recruiting is at unprecedented levels under stoops which we all know equals guaranteed success" or something along those lines? It would be a little more respectable if you could at least try and prove my points wrong, I just feel like people are lost on this board, they love stoops so much so when people say something not pro stoops then it's zero logic because they can't think of much outside of recruiting to say about him and usually it's just name calling to prove points. It's quite funny.
Pretty sure that coaches can interact with the players anytime they just can't be doing football related stuff
Thats why the upperclassmans name wasn't revealed . I think it is a positive that we are going to have a change in attitude .I think this stuff should stay in the team. No need to publicize, IMO.
And says a whole lot more about the player development ability of these coaches (or lack thereof). These coaches seem to be pretty woeful thus far when it comes to player development, yes I know there's exceptions here and there, but as a whole it's been real bad.
Him or cut nets.Still holds the title for worst poster on the board.
Say what you will. Pumping sunshine will only take you so far before you're knocked off you're high horse. If there's one thing being a lifetime UK football fan should teach you, it's not to get your hopes up too early. Yet many seem to prematurely act as if stoops has already brought us to relevance without really winning anything or beating anyone decent (besides USC couple years ago they went 7-6). That's it though. I'm pretty sure that's stoops only win vs a .500+ D1 team since being here. We kept hearing about Erik Korems state of the art strength and conditioning program, yet we didn't look like a team that was in better shape than a lot of teams, is it Erik Korems s&c program. Or are the players just not taking it seriously enough to show the results that the program was supposed to show? I think it's a damn good question to be honest. I know you love you some stoops and think he's just on top of everything and you probably are angered by those who don't think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread but not me no sir not yet at least. Been a fan too long to prematurely get my hopes up on a coach that couldn't look anymore inept and lost during games..

I don't know I think Randall Cobb may have been one of the team leaders the day he walked on campusFirst, I am a big KD fan. I think Stoops has done a below average job with "on the field Coaching". With that being said though, he has recruited at a level never seen here before. Is it still at the lower end of the SEC? Yes, but it's a heck of a lot closer to the teams in front of us than it had ever been before. I've watched a lot of losing football at UK in my life and two more years of Stoops possibly losing is not going to really matter. At least he is decent in one part of the job (recruiting). The coach he followed was a poor recruiter and coach. Hopefully he develops into a decent head coach. If not, hopefully the next guy in can take his talent and make a team out of them.Lol because you can't stand seeing someone not pro stoops. If someone isn't all in with stoops people go as far as blocking because they can't stand to see someone not all in with the head coach. Sorry I'm blunt about how inept of an in game head coach he is? I get great humor from this.

Mr. Woodyard was a man..... Day #1Yes, and do not forget Wesley Woodyard.

Good callUK got major coaching upgrades in the offseason while UL hires two grad assistants with no ties to Florida. If UL can't get recruits from Florida they're in a world of hurt. Because they sure aren't getting the best out of KY or OH.
Cats will finally show it on the field this year. They've shown it in spurts the past 2 years but this year is when our talent starts to shine through.
Do ya now? This thread is straight GOLD. If you pull up any of these old threads today. It's like everyone is hating on the one person speaking the truth! You can't handle the truth!!!!Not angered. Just think you suck.
Yes. Very much so WOEFUL!!!! What a great thread yall thank you STL!!!!So they are woeful in player development, huh? Bud Dupree, Za'Darius Smith, Melvin Johnson, Farrington Huguenin, Josh Forrest, Khalid Henderson, Chris Westry, JD Harmon, Garrett Johnson, Boom Williams, Jon Toth, Ramsey Meyers all overachieving. Geniuses like you don't understand this. All but 9 of the active Stoops signees on Stoops' 2015 roster were still freshmen and sophomores. I wasn't any happier with our November performance than anyone else, but I am sure as hell going to give Stoops a realistic chance. Especially since he just signed the best class I can ever remember here.
And you know NOTHING.Yes, but when it is EVERYONES opinion shouldn't that tell you something?
Nah, you know everything.
Isnt Kash the one who caused the fumble?
Most of us can read the scoreboard.Very uninformed post. Embarrassing actually.
Kash doesn't play LTIsnt Kash the one who caused the fumble?
You don't know anything at all. Zero football knowledge whatsoever. And to top it off, you're a piece of crap fanYes, but when it is EVERYONES opinion shouldn't that tell you something?
Nah, you know everything.
Wrong as usualHopefully (looking for positives) we keep getting coaches leaving for better jobs because they are successful here. I think our two newest hires are going to turn out that way, and a positive is that the new DB coach will have an excellent chance to be successful because of the DB talent Stoops and Troops have accumulated.
Quite a difference in the way Thomas left UL and Ainsley is leaving here, but with the crew jurich has assembled and the things he pulls I can't blame Thomas any for wanting out. I still think that could be a disaster waiting to happen IF the incompetent NCAA ever does their job.
