Little bit of scuttlebutt about Ansley...

D. Ansley is UK's Co-DC & he just got that promotion. I wouldn't think that he'd go to Bama & I hope that he does not. That said, nobody knows, with certainty, who is staying where & who is going where. But, if Ansley does leave, UK will have a pretty BIG wad of $$$, that will become available, to throw at another coach.

I agree. However if we are losing our Co-DC I don't see the replacement being Ed Reed or anyone currently on the staff.

I loved Ed Reed as a player. He may be the best to play the game there has ever been at his position. Having said that, that doesn't mean he's a good coaching candidate. Being a great player doesn't mean you will be a good coach. Does Reed have any coaching experience? I'm not saying he won't be a good coach, hell he may be great. I know one thing he was an unreal player. I loved watching him in college, then his hall of fame NFL career. I think he was a 2 or 3 star player out of Louisiana lol.

In hindsight, dumb move not telling DJ Eliot he had to find another job or he was fired and then we could've elevated Ansley to DC, but have Stoops call the defense.

Yeah, if Ed Reed is even a remote possibility you do everything you can to bring him here. I dont give a **** if he can coach or not, Stoops has like 20 years experience coaching DBs if he needs some guidance.

that's my take as well. I think the question isn't if he would be willing to come here, but rather does he want to coach in the league or at the college level? Does he like working with young developing kids or professionals? would he enjoy or dislike recruiting which does involve a fair amount of travel?

I'm sure the money would be here for Ed and he would be working primarily under Stoops, not under another position coach like he now is at Buffalo.

Stoops verified atleast 1 sec team offered Ansley. Rather that was Georgia idk. It would make sense since there is a connection to Smart.

Could have been offered then, his name was mentioned a couple days on our board then everything went quiet. Most everyone then thought it was probably going to be Tucker because names kept popping up for all the other position coaches but no one was being mentioned for DB after the first few days.

If its true Ansley is going to Bama is surprising to me, Pruitt is a very good DB coach and all he has ever coached,in college anyway. Pruitt isn't an easy guy to work with, he caused quite a bit of conflict at UGA last year, rumored to the point of a couple of assistants had to be restrained. Being a first year coach I understand Kirby not wanting to deal with Pruitt and not trying to keep him, Saban being on top of the college football world may be enough to keep him in line.

Of all the guys on last year's staff, excluding Stoops himself, and maybe Marrow, this is the last guy that we want to lose.
That's exactly right. Ansley is definitely 1 of the most valuable members of our staff as a teacher and recruiter. But he is gone now, and I don't blame him 1 bit for taking a job with the top program in college football. Given the same kind of choice, anyone on this board would jump at the opportunity unless they were crazy or lazy. As good as Ansley is, he isn't the only talented secondary coach in America. Stoops has excellent family connections, and has shown that he can recruit quality coaches. I will wait to see who Stoops brings in to replace Ansley before singing the blues about this. Sometimes this kind of thing turns out to be a blessing in disguise.
