I shouldn’t be, because the ref just took a forearm smash to his forehead and had to leave the game. Looked like something straight out WWF. I’m surprised he’s not out cold.
It was completely accidental. The Illini were matching the Wolverines basket for basket down the stretch. Really exciting play. Illinois’ big man, Kofi Cockburn, who is built like a fully grown NBA power forward, made a nice play to grab a rebound and lay it in, restoring a 10 point lead.
in his exuberance, he reached back to Mississippi and let a power fist pump fly, coming across to his left. The unsuspecting referee walked right into it like Wile E Coyote walks under an anvil dropped from a cliff.
Now Michigan has cut it to 5 points with 2 minutes to go.
