They'll just take it out of Yum center lease and make Louisville tax payers fund it.:sunglasses:

The ACC fined Louisville and Virginia Tech$25,000 each for accepting leaked gameplan information from Wake Forest radio broadcaster Tommy Elrod, the league announced Saturday.
A pathetic slap on the wrist. A more meaningful and appropriate punishment would be for the ACC to cut Louisville (and to be fair, also Va Tech) out of their share of the ACC bowl revenue. That would hit it em where it hurts-in the bank account.

ACC dealing with this quickly, and trying do so quickly by dropping it on a Saturday. Clearly trying to move past the story. The fine is apparently there maximum fine under the ACC bylaws, but it still feels like UofL and Va Tech should be VERY pleased the sanction wasn't worse, particularly since Jurich's ridiculously arrogant press release dumped gasoline on the fire and made it a much bigger story. Looks like the ACC, much like the NCAA appears to do (and likely the SEC and other conferences in fairness), do not go out of their way to slow their better football programs and their head coaches.

UVA? Do you mean Va Tech?

The scroll on ESPNnews said UL, Va Tech, and Army received plans for 3 years.
They didn't receive plans all theee years. Louisville as far as we know only got the plans this year. Va. Tech got plans in either 14 or 15 when Beamer was still there. Have not heard what year Army may have gotten plans but they played WF in 14 & 16. It seems Elrod only contacted guys that he coached with at WF.

This might help....

The ACC has fined Louisville and Virginia Tech $25,000 each following a review of the "WakeyLeaks" scandal that involved a Wake Forest broadcaster leaking game-plan information to opposing teams.

The league said in a statement Saturday that it determined such intelligence was provided four times - to three teams - over a three-year period:

  • Virginia Tech in 2014
  • Army in 2014 and 2016
  • Louisville in 2016

What a joke. They'd never say it but any school would be happy to pay $25K for a win. If you have no morals then it's definitely worth the risk to cheat in the ACC.

Houston, another member of the ACC lost today. Evidently they didn't have San Diego's game plan. It's hard for some teams in the ACC to win without prior knowledge, of the other team's game plan. I despise the ACC.

If $25k is the MAXIMUM fine, then why would anyone stop receiving info even after being caught? What is a conference win worth to a school? That should be the penalty for cheating.

Geez, this is a pretty serious fine, a $100 handshake for every commit in an average years recruiting for FIVE years. FIVE times as much as the $5,000 "loan" that hurtt got at the U for handshakes, pretty significant.unless of course they give five handshakes to five star, four for four stars, three for three, etc, in which case they will have to ask jurich for more next year No problem there.

Of course maybe BP can spare some of the FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLAR BONUS he got for doing nothing for the APR------for a good cause, of course.

Just curious, would the Army reply be that we are of the highest character and should have never accepted the information or our guys are trained to get information from our enemy that can help us? I know the answer, but we kind of chuckled about it at the dinner table tonight on what Jurich would say if he was the Army AD.

You're getting the ACC and the AAC mixed up. Houston does not belong to the ACC.

I don't care about the amount. The important thing is that no investigation has been conducted, so they got out in front of the story. The key issues are whether Petrino knew, and whether UL does this kind of thing more often than just when they get a phone call from Tommy Elrod. Either the ACC is satisfied that UL doesn't cheat by design in this way, or else they only want to put an end to the story in the national media. Remember, the ACC is the conference of Florida State, Miami, North Carolina, so they already know how to lay down cover for cheaters.

Louisville and Virginia Tech were hit with 25K fines...but of course in state rival Fanbase is going to focus on Louisville....the ACC also said in it release it will have no further comment-(ie IMO they are done) and are satisfied with the punishment of Lonnie Galloway.

Now at West Point their internal investigation is just starting up...

An Army spokesman also said Saturday that it will investigate its role in the scandal, with Superintendent Lt. Gen. Robert Caslen ordering athletic director Boo Corrigan to open an investigation that will be conducted by a U.S. Army officer.

Somehow I get the impression the investigation into this situation at the USMA will be conducted much differently than has been done at UL & VaTech, with much more severe penalties for the transgressors.

As others in this thread have pointed out, it's pitiful that UL is being fined by the ACC office for cheating (and then subsequently lying about it) than UK was fined by the SEC office for fans storming the field after a win.

The Army Coaching staff has a problem...the ACC for it part shut it down quickly with IMO Wake blessing...have a feeling why...

Yea, the problem is, which others tried to explain to Zipp, is that whole integrity deal that the Army takes a bit more seriously than the rest of the free world. I spent over 20 years in that institution. In that world once it's been proven you can't be trusted, uniformed or DOD civilian, you're done.

The Pitinos, Petrinos, and Jurichs of the world don't thrive in that world. Yea, I more than understand that they sometimes make it to the top but, as we've seen with Petraeus and others, they do eventually step on their Johnsons and get taken care of. They typically aren't allowed to continue unlike the cesspool that is my alma mater.

ACCording to league rules...that was the MAXIMUM fine it could hand out. LilBro has also suspended Galloway.

All that is nothing when compared with the $1,000,000 in bad publicity that they got in the Sports Media from this. Jurich is being tarnished as never before as the slime ball we here have known him to be forever. They have more fires at LilBro to put out than you'd find out west during a drought.
