No the problem is Mike Leach despite beating LSU will almost for sure still have a losing record and if they were playing creampuff Saturday, would likely blow it vs a 1-aa creampuff school. That is his track record. This was also Pelini’s 1st game as DC at LSU.
and for the record I’m no fan of the debacle I’m watching. It’s embarrassing.
Mike Leach knows how to win in the Big 12 and everywhere else he goes, despite the lack of recruiting big names.
His average Big 12 conference record is 5-3............right?
47-33. Also didn’t inherit a team that played for BCS bowl games. He elevated Texas Tech from the Dykes years. He also turned Washington St back to their winning ways from the Mike Price era.
So he had 10 years at Texas Tech.......and 8 years at Washington State...........and was just above a .500 record head coach, and you are wanting to point fingers at his predecessors for not giving him good players? How about he recruit some?
He recruited what he could and won in the Big 12 back when the conference had better/competitive teams that they do now. It’s a miracle he did what he did at Washington St. The programs he inherited were not winning programs when he took over, unlike when Dana and Neal Brown took over here at WVU.
Leach’s conference record was 47-33 in 10 years at TX Tech and 36-36 in 8 years at WA State. In 18 seasons he’s never won nor even played for a conference title and he won’t at Miss State either.
Is he better than what WVU has or has had since being in the Big XII? YES Absolutely
Does that make him a good coach? NO Absolutely Not. He’ll break your heart every time you start to believe and lose games that make you want to kill him. He’s a little better than Holgorsen, but neither coach or any coach from the Hal Mummy tree ever plays defense enough to be a great coach.
They're all hiding now over at the loony bin.
