That kid cries a lot eh? I remember when they beat us ranked about 13 spots higher, dude flat out hit the ground crying. WE were their true championship this season, let's be honest here. Maybe I'm disgusting for laughing at a young athletes mental pain, but that was so good seeing him cry again except this time on a loss. Happy beyond belief today!

My philosophy has always been that I never criticize a player for celebrating or how they carry themselves on the court....My reasoning is that if you don't like how a player celebrates, don't let him score....However, I will also never criticize someone who revels in that player's misery because if you dish it out you best be able to absorb it....

Eh, rivals or not it seems pretty heartless. Definitely prefer UNC not winning last night, but getting such enjoyment so I'm "happy beyond belief" at watching a kid's dream being crushed seems a bit far.

Hahaha, I must have too. I'm not happy beyond belief because of him crying, but because they lost. Him crying just made me laugh.

I long ago accepted that I have no soul. Their tears are delicious. :cool:I think it's from growing up surrounded by Carolina fans my whole life.

Maybe, but my personal dream was to see his dream go up in a puff of smoke. You wouldn't want to see my dream crushed. I'm 57. Brice is just a kid. My dream gets priority. Suck it, Carolina.

I have absolutely no problem with crying after a loss in a national championship game. That's a once in a lifetime opportunity, and falling short is painful. Granted, most players handle it better, but he gets a pass there.

But the open weeping after the Duke win is another story. They were favored and ranked higher, and seemingly had national championship aspirations. Getting a win there absolutely should not result in immediate tears flowing. But that ultimately is a compliment to the Duke program I guess.

Oh, and let me add this...I'm not in the least sad about Brice, Paige, Roy or any of the players or fans crying their little pea pickin' hearts out. Let's make this clear...I (we) aren't laughing at a kid that's lost a loved one (that is heartless)...we're laughing at someone that lost a freakin' ballgame...something that players and fans all take too damn seriously. That's what the rivalry is about...enoying the 'pain' of opposing fans. And for every player who's dream is crushed...another player's is fulfilled.

I remember for years getting hounded by UNC fans about Duke. People called Brian Z stupid and incapable, Paulus was a slow white boy who couldn't play, "Scheyer faces" how we were a dying program and K didn't know what he was doing, most of all how we are inferior. All the youtube videos, this is why you suck and the I kissed duke player gag, being told how Hansbrough owns me and Duke will never beat UNC. When JJ cried after the LSU game and senior night and they trashed him so hard for it. Their smugness. All throughout high school.

My wife and I had A LOT of laughs at their crying last night and I'm not ashamed of it. Bryce can go back to chapel hell, hang from a rim and scream some more if it makes him feel better.

Strangely sounds a lot like how my high school experience was like: I really wish I could see some of those kids now. Guarantee you they're bandwagoning for the Warriors...or maybe even Duke these days! I have no shame in laughing at their crying: this school has allegedly cheated their way to victories on the court with no regard for the "student" portion of student-athlete. I don't care if this group of kids goes to class or not: look up in the stands and see all the former Tar Heel players that benefited from not having to go to class. Watching them, Brice's antics, and Roy Williams made me glad they lost in the way they did, and I'm not sorry for it.

OMG THIS. I was in high school during the Hansbrough years, too. I remember being asked if I was happy about UNC winning some game. I replied, "I'm a Duke fan," nothing more than that - and the whole class descended like wolves. Because back then everyone was a UNC fan and they were very, VERY loud about it. Another memory is after UNC won the national championship in '09. It was my freshman year at Duke. One of the workers on campus was a huge UNC fan (great guy aside from that). After they won, he was talking all this noise, and I finally said to him, "You enjoy that...while it lasts." He shot back that he would, and then said, "Someone around here has to. Who knows when Duke will win another one." The next year, come April we were burning East Campus benches on the main quad on West (because the West Campus benches had been burned after 82-50.) Good times, man. Good times.

Sounds like we are about the same age! Yeah their smugness was through the roof back between 2005 and 2009. All the "ROY OWNS K, HE'LL FORCE HIM INTO RETIREMENT" talk. Yeah a lot of big talking UNC fans back then and they'd let you know why you were less than them.

People talk about how entitled Duke fans are but it truthfully is UNC fans. If you don't believe it peak over at THR. They are just giving it to Roy in some spots and back to trashing him as a coach AGAIN. The man just took them to a National! Granted he's no Coach K....

I definitely did not want to see him win. As much criticism as Allen gets, some of it brought on by himself, I don't see anyone calling Johnson a punk for his constant hanging on the rim, starring down the opponent after a dunk or a block or pouting like a 5 year old boy to the refs after they have the audacity to call a foul on him. None of that worries me much at all, but if a Duke player acts like that, oh boy.

Maybe I'm getting soft the older I get, but UNC's players didn't come across to me as unlikable this season. A few of them like Pinson and Meeks sort of bug me....that's about it.

The agony of their fans and ole Roy is more pleasurable, IMO. I mean, let's face it, their fans are a dumpster fire on a cold and windy day. As for Roy, his schtick has become tiresome and old. He absolutely knew about the fake classes and he's been blatantly lying in saying men's basketball wasn't mentioned in the NOA. It's on the damn UNC website that they were mentioned, for Christ's sake. Besides, back to the dumpster fire people, they were outraged at K 'lying' two weeks ago. Why not now?

Brice Johnson and Marcus Paige seem like good kids. They took chances on UNC when a lot of others weren't and almost did something special this season. I've seen a lot of our guys suffer end of season losses and be emotional....it hurts. So while I tend to leave the kids out of it, in that regard, while @Neners is taking a shot of Brice's tears, I'll do one with her....only I'll drink the tears of Gary and my buddy keyser instead.

Actually UNC had one of their more "likeable" groups in years. That said, If any Duke player was half as obnoxious as Brice Johnson (hanging on the rim after every dunk, stare downs after every dunk/block, tantrums after every foul against) he would be the most hated player in basketball. Brice doesn't even get a mention by the announcers.

How about his p.j. hairston impression of the " Hulk Down and Stare." I must have missed it. OFC

I forgot all about that. He was mean mugging everyone the other week. That happened shortly after John Henson's ejection for taunting in the Bucks-Grizzlies game. I said something on Facebook that Brice Johnson better hopes no one follows him back to the locker room after the game. Not enough NBA fans on my list to get that one...

Haha.. Count me in as in high school during those years. I graduated in 08 so I missed the title year but my gosh if some of these kids today went through that they'd really have to find a safe zone to hide LOL! I took it in stride tho and we are still the better program:)

Well if the basketball thing doesn't work out for Brice, he'd be a hell of a spokesman for Visine and Kleenex. While he's making his pitch to be a spokesman, he can always say he learned from the best...Ole Roy!

I like Brice Johnson as a person. He obviously has good taste in women. But when you put on that Cryolina Blue, it lowers your testosterone and leads to public humiliation. Like Ron Swanson implores, "Kindly put those tears back in your eyes where they belong."

Completely agree on all fronts. Not going to revel at the kids who lost but the fans, program and all that comes with it I'll gladly enjoy every second of their misery.

I get more joy out the Espn pundits not being correct of their annual Kentucky, Kansas, or Unc National title predictions especially Dick Vitale. Just I hope that Duke actually lives up to the expectations this.year. But as for the kids at UNC I actually respect how they carry themselves and play the game. Compared to John Henson, Hansblows, Vince Carter, Rasheed bald spot Wallace, PJ, Mcan't, Bullock, and Mr. Butters, these kids are almost likeable, almost if it weren't for that feminine powder blue they wear.

I found myself in a tough spot last night. My wife does not care one bit about sports but happens to be a UNC grad. Because of that, I had to pretend to somewhat pull for UNC or at the very least pretend not to root against them. It was painful. I was just trying to stay quiet and be a good husband. When Nova hit the shot at the buzzer, it took everything in me to not run around the house shouting. I think I did a good job because she still does not know how happy that UNC loss made me.

Anyway, I guess I am getting old myself because as I was watching the post game press conference, I realized that for the first time ever, I actually like a UNC player. I know it is blasphemous to say but Marcus Paige is definitely one of my favorite all-time players. The kid just went out, played hard, and never showboated for four years which I love and respect. For the most part, the other players on the team this year seemed likeable as well. Me being so happy about their loss completely has to do with their fans. I am indifferent towards the players crying as it is part of the game. However, if this was Reggie Bullock, PJ Hairston, or one of their other idiot players over the years, I would have loved to see their tears!

Neners, you're a gal after my own heart! Living in Tar Heel country, or surrounded by their fans definitely has an effect on someone.

Same here. Born on Tobacco Road and living in Charlotte most of my life means I've been around tarhole fans forever. I can't bring myself to feel any empathy for 'em at all. They're terrible losers and even worse winners. Nuthin' humbles 'em. When they lose , they bolt. Win and they pollute everything within sight or earshot with their arrogance and stupidity. Screw 'em.

Wow, this hits close to home. The only difference is that I flat out told my wife that I hated UNC the other day. I'm usually more tactful than that.

And I don't really hate UNC. Just a large faction of their fans.

You know this is really gonna sound strange coming from me because I only admit to liking one unc player and that is Bobby Jones and he played so long ago that he could be a member of the OFC. He is the same age I am and should have been a Dukie but he came along during an era of Duke basketball when it struggled. If we had Coach K then or if Jones came along a few years later he would have been at Duke because he's exactly what Coach K recruits. I have to say I like paige even though I have given him a hard time during his career at unc. He is a very polite and well spoken young man. Now I said it. Man was that hard. I'm a Duke fan. I can't help it. It's my nature. OFC

I am tickled to death...Brice Johnson showed his true character one too many times for me this year, and even got a quick staredown of a Nova kid in lst half last nite after a jam...His coach went after opposing fans in the stands Saturday nite (Jason King article) after Syracuse win, (what if that were K??!!)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE when they lose....
