You need to remember- they are on a collision course with the national championship, the only variable is time. Of course, that was said in the middle 80s but who is counting.

Howard had a vision for greatness, and it set Louisville on a path that has lead to enormous improvements in team accomplishment, facilities and conference affiliation. Who would have predicted future wins in the Fiesta, Orange and Sugar Bowls back in the 80's. Who would have predicted membership in the ACC. Howard's braggadocio put Louisville on that path.

These are all true unfortunately. In a couple years there is a good chance we will lose two more of our long-standing bragging rights: 1. They will probably own the all time series lead... 2. They will have a larger stadium capacity than us. #2 Would have been UNTHINKABLE even 15 years ago when we were laughing at them for their 42k seat stadium while we were rocking 70k strong... makes me sick!!!

Am I missing something? Last season they beat ONE team with a winning record in the regular season and struggled with the worst teams in the ACC. The were pretty close to finishing 6-6 in the regular season. I know they have some nice players, but now all of the sudden they are a juggernaut? We'll see.

UofL should be better for the same reason UK should be better. Both were very young teams last year and both return nearly everybody. The difference between the two programs at this point is the head coach - one has been very successful at this level and the other has not yet proven himself one way or the other.

There is another difference as well ... the "glass ceiling" in the ACC is only two layers thick (aka Clemson and FSU) whereas in the SEC it is at least double that (Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and whichever monster survives the bloodbath known as the SEC west).

Is that you, notch8? You're not fooling anybody, Troll. Is there another fanbase out there that is so obsessed that they will make fake username's and pose as fans of their rivals? It's really creepy. UL fans are constantly doing it, not only on here, but they'll even call into KSR. I see one of them I have on ignore posted in this thread. Just a bunch of weirdo's, but then again, you have to be kinda weird to become a UL fan in the first place, LOL.

Haven't you heard? It's year 3 of "Bobby Ball". And "Lamar" is all of a sudden gonna turn into John Elway with his accuracy throwing the ball, and that pitiful O line is gonna perform like the 93 Cowboys. I just laugh and shake me head when they constantly refer to their coaches and players by their first names. Anyway's uh, "Bobby's stellar 17-9 record, while playing in the worst P5 conference by far is more proof that they're gonna improve so much, that they will be in the playoff picture. He's taken them to the Belk and Banjo bowl the last two years, for God's sake, so you can understand why they are so giddy. The delusion and comedy on their Scout board is just too much for me to stay away.

Happened to turn on the radio while driving the other day and heard one Otis's explayers say that there is nobody in the country that has as much talent as Otis has this year... Big bold statement if you have to back that up

1). Until we beat them we should STFU.

2). Biggest mistake was UK not hiring Shnellenberger in the 80's.

3). UofL has churned out NFL draft picks like an upper end SEC school the last 3-4 years.

These are facts. I love UK football, but frankly I'd definitely trade their track record for ours over the past 25 years (sans 10/13/2007).

More facts:

UofL fans are delusional. Clemson has more talent than they by a wide margin... But that's also because Clemson is odds on second fav to win the whole thing.

We can beat them this year. The talent gap isn't that wide. Coaching talent edge to UOfL. Cats need to stay healthy.

Nothing would satisfy me more than UK derailing the PLAYOFFS aspirations of the Cards.

Says the guy posting about UofL and starting a thread obsessed with them. Our season starts saturday, who cares what UofL is doing? They aren't going to the playoffs, but who cares? Quit starting stupid threads and calling everyone a troll.

While I agree that it is likely that Louisville will lose 2-3 games, it is not true that BP hasn't won anything. He won a BCS conference (Big East) championship, and beat the ACC champion, in the 2006 Orange Bowl.

Everyone thought BP was going to raise the bar at UL. Thus far, he has not. Without Charlie's recruiting and Grantham, things might be more negative than positive. While he has not been upset as UL's HC (Auburn might be an upset and Houston might have felt like one), except when UL lost at UVA, he has not pulled an upset.

No he hasn't won anything of importance regardless of what you UofL fans say. The Big East conference was a joke and had no business having a BCS bid. And that Wake Forest team was a joke also. The Clemson team we beat that year in the Music City Bowl beat them.

They beat us. That's all I care about them... Beating them.

That is not all I care about. But, I also don't want to make them into world beaters based upon the last two years. They have been anything but. They are a good team that has good reason to be hopeful for the season.

The Cards may indeed lose 2, 3, 4 or maybe as many as 5 games this year, as two of those 5 losses could be to teams (Clemson & FSU) ranked in several polls as Top 5, and Houston as high as Top 10 ...............so any suggestion that the UL schedule would preclude a Playoff position is simply absurd.three of those on their schedule.

I learned a long time ago that predictions are meaningless; and that applies to UK as well as UL.

As a long time (50+ years) fan of UL football, I can say this 2016 has the most depth on both sides of the football than any previous UL team. I will not say that it is the most talented Card team, but it does have skill position kids who will play at the next level beginning at QB, WR, TE, LB, S and DE.

Perhaps the one single player who may turn out to be the MVP is Kyle Bolin. This 2nd string QB is a 4th year Junior with a lot of experience and a great understanding of the offense. As one other poster volunteered on this thread .........I doubt Lamar Jackson can go an entire season without some injury that results in missing critical snaps, if not games. There are very few D1 College Football Teams who return 3 QBs who started at QB at the same school, it makes a lot of difference in a long season when the #1 QB misses part of the season.

I will give doubters of this UL team one rather incredible statistic ....... UL has 15 returning Receivers/RBs/TEs who caught passes last year and 10 of those kids are 6'3" or taller and virtually everyone of those 15 started at one position or another. That is a huge target & advantage for any QB, much less for 3 who have game starting experience.

Actually they beat two. Both on the road (Pitt, NC State). The first 3 losses were by a combined 13 points vs Auburn, Houston and Clemson. All of this with a very young and shaky O-line that got it's act together towards the end of the season.

Actually, you're wrong. They gave up 45 points and lost to Pitt last year.

The UofL trolls that show up on our board always make it easy. They come over here and really can't get simple facts straight about their own team.

I can't believe you can post here after all of the sick, sad, and foolish crap you spew on your board. And they let you be a MOD ? You banned me for 'liking' posts on your board and I never even posted.... not one time. You and Zipp belong in a rubber room. You're an unstable person IMO.

Yeah, I know you keep saying that, but it's just not true. And the post you were banned for is linked here as well. See link.

For all the talk about how good their D was does anyone remember the players parents bashing Grantham in the stands for most of the year? I think that D continues to decline like at uga... a couple great years then lose fundamentals. If they don't lose 4 games this year it will be because Lamar is passing better and they are scoring 40+ per game.

Delusional is the word that best describes Little Brother fans.
Yep, outside if the Krag years, which were impossible to gloss over, although some still tried really hard, they have to be more hopelessly optimistic than any other group of people on the face of the earth. And, in most cases, that could be described as delusional. A 6-6 team, will be 9-3, or 10-2 in their eyes, every single year. We have a few wingnuts, but for the most part our fans call it like they see it.

BECAUSE THE TALKING HEADS CAN'T JUST KEEP SAYING THE SAME OLD THING EVERY YEAR!!!! Alabama, LSU, Auburn, OH St, FSU, Clemson, et al, making the playoffs again and winning it all is NOT GOOD RATINGS!! Geez, recognize a little good pub when you see it and pump the brakes. I bet you think strippers like you too.

1. They will probably own the all time series lead... Yes, but this will come and go in cycles. They will not be dominant long-term. Just as we wont be dominant forever in basketball. The tides will turn.
2. They will have a larger stadium capacity than us. So freaking what?? I really couldn't care less

We had two quarters, last year, where our defense just looked totally confused. Third quarter at FSU (unfortunately, I was there), and the second quarter at Pitt. Nardozzi has Pitt on the move, with SI listing them as a sleeper to win the ACC this year. Hopefully, we won't have any "lost" quarters like that this year.
