That's kind of disturbing, that Saban doesn't even ride the team bus, he has a special Yukon waiting for him? The more I learn about this guy, the less I respect him. Yeah, I know he's from WV and came from humble beginnings, with an out house, blah blah blah. He certainly has forgotten all that. When he interviews, he sort of comes across as a jerk.

I'd take him or Kiffen in a heartbeat. If you have the opportunity, watch the Feherty show on the Golf Channel where Saban is his subject for an hour. Nick seems a lot like Jerry West to me....aloof, troubled, complex, driven, detail-oriented. The Feherty show really gets inside his head more than anything I've ever seen. He actually comes across as likable.

I certainly would take him as a coach too, but that won't ever happen. I do see the troubled and aloof, driven and detail oriented aspects of his personality. I'll watch the Feherty show on him.

Holgs does the same thing.

I also would take Saban or Kiffen, but we know it would never happen with Saban. I wonder if Kiffen is actually the HCIW at Alabama. Its hard to believe he did not get an offer with all the coaching openings. I saw the Feherty piece with Saban, it was really good. Did you see the one Feherty did with Steve Spurrier? I liked it as well.

I did see the Spurrier episode and it was good. Spurrier fell into a golfer's dream at SC. It seems that with their connections, the joab of HC at SC comes with a membership to Augusta National. Both Spurrier and Lou Holtz are members thanks to Hootie Johnson.

Saban had it pretty good growing up. He also returns to WV often. He also still financially supports the youth sports programs in Monongah.

I don't see any problem. Last game with lots of fat cat boosters wanting to touch the trophy. Why not let the kids go and have fun. Saban was probably tied up for hours.

I think Saban comes to WVU for the 2016 season. He's got to be bored with winning National Championships at Alabama. He needs a new challenge.

Just kidding.

I don't have a problem with it. He is an intimidating presence and he knows it. Very similar to Lombardi. Maybe he thinks it is best to give the players a break from the intimidation so they can truly enjoy the moment as a team.

I have family that grew up with Saban in Marion county and remains very good friends. My first cousin daughter is actually in the football clip of Saban in either the Feherty show or the Espn show on him. I can't remember which one it was but it was the scene of showing a youth game on the field Saban played on. She was in the cheerleading squad on the sidelines. Anyway, Saban didn't have it great growing up. It is a tough life in that part of wv. He did have a great family structure and that is very important.

Was she cheerleading for the Ida Mae Black Diamonds? I grew up on Motown and I am very familiar with Monongah and surrounding area. The economy in that area back in Sabans early youth was a lot better than it is now. Fairmont and Clarksburg were fairly vibrant cities back in those days. Coal miners made a very good living during that time. My grandfather, father and uncle were coal miners.

I don't know the team name. My cousin just told me before it aired to look for it. Actually, it is my cousins granddaughter and not daughter.
My family are coal miners from Marion and this particular cousin's father (my uncle) was blown up in the Farmington mine #9 explosion in 68 and is leading the charge of the recent class action lawsuit if you have read about.

Sorry for the loss of your Uncle, I had two distant relatives who were killed in the mines. The uncle I mentioned and my father both had Black Lung. For more info about the Sabans I suggest you check out the link in my 12:16 post in this thread.
