JR was all over this months ago. The players weren't happy with some of Korem's methods. I got the impression that he was too intrusive by the way JR explained it. Mark Hill was a big addition to the staff and was brought in to be Korem's replacement

there have been a lot of staff changes since last fall,, I hope they are changes for the good, we shall see! proof will be on the field this fall,, not the hype or talk.Anyone who watched could see that we had coaching problems last year, hopefully the problems weren't at the top, I think most of them were not.

I got nothing good to say about this! His coming to UK and the HP Program he brought with him was much ballyhooed....
Players, fans (and I'm betting Mitch Barnfart) were sold BIGtime on the merits of this system.... It was a major BUST!!!
There is no joy in his leaving... Just means we were sold a bunch of hooey again.... Anyone attending games could see there was little penetration by DLmen and OLmen were pushed around by lesser teams.....

Korem's system works really well and will excel in an NFL environment. There's just no way for some of the things he does to work given the regulations and time constraints of NCAA football. Bash the man all you want, but he has the most scientific approach to S&C that I've ever seen and I wholeheartedly believe it'll work in the NFL. Good luck, Korem.

I just don't understand letting Korem design the new training facility like UK did and then just turning around and cutting him loose that quick. To be honest, it makes a person question the decision making going on. I'm not saying Korem was the answer but his status sure changed all the sudden. It's a head scratcher imo.

Wish it would have worked. But while the results weren't there, at least added something to the perception of uk football (take what you can get). I think they were able to use his innovations to sell recruits. The new guys have a lot of potential to work with.

Korem helped design the building. Good thing. Korem leaves and we still have the building. The structures are leading edge and can be retrofitted for older methods or can keep up with the pace of advancing tech for years to come. The equipment is highly versatile and it's still something for the team to lift and work with.

I am not worried in the slightest.

I'm actually excited that we have this new facility as a supplement for our recruiting and as a means of getting our guys in SEC shape- Korem or no Korem.

What's were they supposed to do? Lock him in and take away his phone/agents phone?

I read the article in the LHL this morning about this. Don't know what went down concerning the HP program, but to Korem's credit he pretty much took the high road. Hopefully we'll see a faster, stronger, etc team in the fall.

Now that this is out I can share what I mentioned a few months ago. His contract was in fact now renewed, and the reason he was not fired was due to the other buyouts happening with others like Dawson... Was very close to getting a job at UVA which was what he told staff, but an NFL job makes sense. As a part of a program focusing on recovery and speed training it will give him a better chance to succeed. Some people make great d coordinators but not head coaches, and this was a case where he will have a better chance to do what his focus should be on.

I would not be as quick as some to say that The high-performance program did not workThere needs to be a mix of a high performance program with the strength and conditioning program I believe that the Rate of injuries was lower this year than we have had in past seasons and that is why I think the high performance program was working.I am not saying thatThings were perfect I just think the two things needed to be Blended together

Theres more to it, we'll probably never know. We went from handing Korem the keys to everything, to basically relegating him to a figurehead; almost literally overnight.

Korem was a dick and people(including the players) got tired of dealing with him.

The guys love Edmonds...

No doubt some of the players didnt like him or his methods. But no doubt they are proven and effective, when the players submit to them. When I read the Rowland article, I remember thinking "our lack of mental toughness makes total sense now".
