I'm no "sunshine pumper"..but this team is going to a bowl !! Be happy about that. From 0-2 and giving up 131 points combined in the first 3 games of the season..to 6-5 and going to a bowl for the first time in 6 years..with a backup QB. UK is NOT going to be one of those 2/3 SEC teams not going to a bowl this year. We're going to be able to watch UK playing in a bowl game in December. Yes, UK should have beat Southern Miss..and probably Georgia too..considering UK was in control for the majority of each of those two games..but..the Southern Miss and Florida games happened..and instead of folding and giving up on the season after playing like and looking like a team that may go 0-8 in the SEC..they went 4-4 !! 6-3 in the last 9 games. A hell of a turnaround. Coach Stoops was bashed for this team playing like they did the first 2 and a half games this season (And deservedly so.) but he also deserves credit for turning this team into a bowl team.

Tonight's game started off atrocious..offense was offensive, defense was embarrassing, and special teams..I won't even go there. However, it looked like a team that didn't prepare for this game all week..it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't..truth is this game was as close to an automatic win as you can get..and UL is looming with two extra days to prepare..I mean, it's very possible the Coaching staff spent the majority of the week preparing for UL. South Carolina did the same thing vs. an awful Western Carolina team at home. Tennessee couldn't stop a dreadful Mizzou team in Knoxville to save their lives for 3..really 4 quarters. Georgia played ehhh vs. ULL at home. Bama came out flat as a pancake vs. Chattanooga at home. It's hard for highly favored to teams to "get up" or "get pumped" for such awful teams. I do think it was an awful choice to not start Johnson to begin the game. Overall though..I can't complain. UK is going bowling after about as horrible of a start to a season as possible. There's a lot of woulda coulda shouldas..but BOTH ways. It evened out pretty much. I'm happy to see my team going bowling for the first time in 6 years when I never thought it was possible after the first three weeks of the season.

Next week..no conservative play calling on offense..UK has nothing to lose whatsoever..but UL does..even after that beatdown they took Thursday night. Open up the playbook, play loose, and PLAY TO WIN THE GAME (In my Herm Edwards voice.) If you go down..go down fighting..leave it all on the field.
