We saw The Machine last evening on their annual Thanksgiving stop at the Keswick Theater. Good stuff!

Silversun Pickups played there a few weeks ago (a fav) but I can’t sit for a band. Was there a standing pit up front or all seats?

Thursday (12/4) was the birthday of the late, great, Dennis Wilson. He was a co-founder, the drummer, and vocalist, for the Beach Boys. He was the only member of the group that was actually a surfer. To celebrate:

Dennis Wilson lived himself to death at age 39. As someone that knew him once said, "I didn't know what he was going to die from, but I knew it wasn't going to be old age." He was wild. But that was probably helpful in marketing the group since the rest of them were fairly tame. And the fact that Dennis was the best looking of them helped in the marketing too.

Here's one that Dennis sings from 1965 or so, before hard living completely ruined his voice. Not that he was blessed with an amazing voice like Brian and Carl were, but he was okay early on. And he does a nice job singing on this. Of course, Brian Wilson wrote the music and produced the song and created the sound. For those that think Brian was so great, such as myself, it wasn't just their hits but it was also the many obscure songs that nobody ever even heard of that were gems.
