I'm beginning to think this week's game could turn ugly very quickly. The Texas team seems poisoned by infighting among the players with upperclassmen now calling out the younger players for a lack of a work ethic. Junior DB Dylan Haines said, "A lot of people are not preparing the way we should be preparing".
Coach Strong said Monday, "Everyday is a battle".
Having watched Texas play this year I see a team that is not focused, or at least, cannot maintain its focus during an entire game. I believe the talent on the Texas roster is better than the 1-4 record indicates. Much better. But somehow, the players don't buy into defending the Texas legacy and just don't seem motivated.
Maybe Strong needs to have a few more years to recruit his own players. I think Strong is a good coach and I do not compare him to John Blake in any way. His resume reflects he can coach and build a good program, but does the Texas brain trust feel the same way ?
I think an upset win Saturday will single-handedly save Strong's job for one more year, until the end of the 2016 season. A blowout loss to Oklahoma will likely hasten Strong's demise by season's end. UT's biggest games after OU are its last three games, at West Virginia, home against Texas Tech and at Baylor. It will be interesting see how Texas represents itself in those final games. Losing to OU and then losing the last three games could end Strong's tenure once and for all.

The horns are lost in the wilderness. They will show up at the game until OU goes up by 14 in the first, then the fighting amongst themselves will begin and it will be total implosion on national tv. The looks on the coaches faces during their games tells the whole story. Even the KU game for them may not be a gimme.

Sources that would be considered viable say he's good for the rest of the year, regardless.

Also, I don't think they can pull it all together just to prevail over OU. They are that broken.
We'll see.

It's very important that we get off to a good start in the game.

The last thing we need to do is to give them any hope. At all.

CT, I know you are s great Sooner, but I must give you a big BOO based on your first comment. Just fight the urge to think that way. You can do it.

Actually I think if OU pops Texas in the mouth early and often, they'll just surrender...kind of like France.

Hard for me to say that being half French. :D

I meant that it could get ugly for Texas.
But OU could get ambushed because..........well, it has happened too often in the past, without rhyme or reason.
