Kentucky travels to College Station to play Texas A&M. I found some interesting tidbits.

~UK is 5-3 in College Station but 0-5 in Lexington. Good thing this one is in Texas.

~ The last two series both have been sweeps. UK swept in 2017 and A&M swept in 2019.

~A&M is actually hitting better in conference play. .280 vs .294

~Pitching has been atrocious for the Aggies in conference play. Two of their weekend starters have an e.r.a. of 7.16 and 11.81.

~But in 9 games, the starters have only factored into two of the decisions.

The similarities between the Aggies and Kentucky are staggering. This weekend could be very interesting. Both teams need a series win..........

I have a work thing in Austin starting Sunday so I'm going down a few days early and gonna check out the Friday and Saturday games. It'll be my first time seeing them in person this year. Looking forward to the sweep!

Looks like TAMU gives up about 6.8 runs a game in league play. However, they've had a fairly easy string of games so far with LSU, Auburn, and Alabama. So, the fact that they are 4-5 with two series losses to two of the poorer teams in the league is kind of telling.

They have a had a pretty good chunk of close games though, two against Auburn went to extras.

A crazy thing is that their starters have struggled and even their bullpen have pretty high ERAs in conference, but the 3 guys who have thrown more than 5 innings all have batting averages against that are sub .215. One other pitcher with 4 innings is a 0.00 ERA in 3 appearances and has a .154 ba/against, but he's walked 4 and struck out 4.

Still, the big question will be who can hit. UK has a .254 batting average in league play, but we've played 3 top 25 teams. They have a .294 batting average, but have played a much weaker schedule. One of their batters has 5 home runs in league play.

I didn't realize until the latest UK baseball tweet that tonight's game doesn't start until 9pm Eastern. Gonna be a late one.
