We lose Timmons to graduation and Alex Montgomery gave up football. Those are the only two we really lose. The big issue is that we have a ton of juniors that will be gone after the 2017/2018 year. Baker, Johnson, Badet, Walker, and Bone are all major contributors that we will have to replace after 17/18.

There's a possibility that Badet declares for the draft. I'm guessing Baker would like to but he hasn't shown enough consistency.

In 2018, for scholly receivers, we are staffed with 2017 & 2018 signees, as well as:
Richardson JR
Greenwood JR
Ross SR
Hughes SO-RS
Robinson SO-RS
Pretty thin at the top of the class ladder, huh, especially in the slot? I expect we will take a JUCO WR in the 2018 class, maybe a pair, depending on the development of 2017 signees, if we can sign plug and play talent. Maybe we might avoid going JUCO route given quality of prospects committed and pending? We'll see in time.

While I agree we will likely have a Juco WR or two in the 2018 class we should have these guys returning for 2018:
Kayaune Ross Sr
Tavin Richardson Jr
Jabari Greenwood Jr
Dakota Holtzclaw So
Zyaire Hughes So
And any of our incoming 2017 Frosh class could be Sophs

I enjoy your posts and respect your knowledge. But Badet will be back in 2017 unless he has a non-football problem of some kind.

My concern will be replacing Badet. Where is our next speedster deep threat coming ftom?

Hopefully Danny Davis. But Epps is very fast and several current Kentucky receivers run well. I would just remind you that completing deep passes requires more than speed. The most important deep pass in recent Kentucky history was thrown by Andre Woodson to Stevie Johnson, not a particularly fast receiver. To complete deep passes, you need strong receivers who get off the line well and run good routes, and you need a quarterback who can read safeties and then deliver the football accurately. If the receiver doesn't run a good route, or if the quarterback throws into double coverage, then it usually doesn't matter how fast the receiver is. The main reason for Badet's success on deep routes this year has been safeties expecting to be run over by Benny Snell in the box.

Time flies. Better double check those class years you "corrected". I am assuming Holtzclaw to TE/Flex, but perhaps not.
Greenwood and Richardson are both redshirt freshmen this year, and will be redshirt juniors in 2018.

Thanks for the correction. See I was prematurely aging Greenwood and Richardson.

Holtzclaw mentioned above as a possible TE. He's an interesting prospect whether he is converted to TE or remains a WR.

6'7" and asserted to be quite athletic. Needs (or needed) to add 30+ pounds if he is going to serve as a TE, but he would not be called on as #1 until 2019, so that gives him plenty of time. He could play at 260 by then, having added 45, but not sure he has the frame. Anyone ever heard the staff comment on the long term plan for him and address his physical development? I don't want him playing WR at 215, much less TE, but everyone recognized that coming in. Has anything been said about top end size goals for the kid? 6'7" 235 means jumbo WR/Flex. Get him up to 260, and we have a giant, athletic, traditional TE, based on what I've heard of his level of athleticism.

Re TE don't forget UK also has Justin Rigg, someone they're high on. I don't recall any serious mention of moving Holtzclaw.
