Maybe we should've lost today, but we didn't. Actually played a very nice game defensively, and even without a passing attack, put up a lot of yards on the ground. Don't look now, but we are in third place in the east ahead of SC, VANDY, and Missou...and for the moment UGA. We are one game behind where we had thought we would be at this point, but the teams ahead of us are not as formidable as we once thought. MSU is looking very average. We now have an extra week to heal up and prepare for the upcoming stretch. I feel like the D has made big strides and the O line is doing better. Now if we could just get some decent QB play, I think we might just get to six.

Really hope Barker can go v Mississippi State. Thw team is slowly starting to transform from a disorganized mess to a team that looks like its fighting out there and while making mistakes learning from them. Really hope we can get bowl eligible. What pissed me off last year and those first three games this year was the team quit. Stoops got that fixed it seems.

Other than AP, I don't think we're beating anyone else without Barker. We may not anyway but you need something in the passing game to even have a chance.

Mississippi State has a slightly less terrible offense (#101) than Carolina and Vandy but a pretty stout defense (#16.)

We can win but if Johnson is the QB he's going to have to reach deep down and find something because his passing tonight simply won't cut it.

Johnson's errant throws were mostly not because of the OL. They played a good game and seem to be getting better. Schlarman is not off the hook - but the group is playing better since the first few games.

We should have never expected our defense to come out this season looking like a fine tuned machine. Have alot of guys making their first significant snaps. It has taken time to mold this group but the hard work and experience is starting to pay off. The one thing I'd love to see some of are turnovers. We are getting killed in this department.

That S Miss game still pisses me off, we should be 4-2.

We have 2 weeks to work on things but we still have issues and tough questions for the coaching staff to address:

Do they work on getting Hoak ready to play if Barker is a no go or still a question? I know Johnson is still the starter at kick off but in the second quarter with the game tied and the offense not moving does Hoak play?

Do they make that decision during the next 2 weeks so they don't have to make it on game day?

Do they tell the QB's in advance(during practices in the next two weeks)

Talk all preseason was vandy had the best defense in the east. But when we beat them it's a bad win. Crazy.

We deserved to win today. The team played hard.

I thought our defense was very good, especially since they didn't give up a TD.

Preseason talk is nice and all but once we kicked the ball off at the beginning of September it became about as useful as teats on a boar. Here's your present reality:

Total Defense
#6 Florida
#54 Tennessee
#66 Georgia
#78 South Carolina
#81 Vanderbilt
#88 Missouri
#108 Kentucky
