Looks like Landon got his 5th Star...

It hasn't been posted yet, but when clicking on his 24/7 offer list page on mobile it popped up as him having his 5th star. None of our other 4 stars have a 5 star posted so it would appear as though it is just a matter of time before it is official. Supposedly later today...

UK commitment Landon Young has been ranked as a 5-star recruit by 247Sports. He's the No. 12 overall prospect in the final 2016 rankings.

If he doesn't start next year someone needs their head examined.

He will. I've said that for a while now though. Some people will say "Ohz noez! freshman in the trenches!" but it's even pretty common practice in the SEC.

Wow! 12 overall! That's a huge jump! Not only got his fifth star but jumped half the previously ranked 5* kids (and a few that dropped to 4*). That's quiet an impressive jump to say the least. I'm guessing he was the biggest jumper?

He will probably drop out of the top 250 on rivals. He dominated cooper but that don't matter in there eyes.

At first I was hoping Meadows would improve and keep Landon as a RS or depth....but I don't see that happening. His foot speed on edge pass rushers in Army game was impressive to say the least. He'll start alongside of Tate and Meadows should be solid depth behind them both.

I suspect he'll lose a star on Rivals.

If he had committed to Alabama or Notre Dame, Rivals would probably create a whole new 6 star category for Landon. It sucks that some services are influenced more by politics than actual performance.

Looked at the 24/7 site and player rankings. Young jumped big time, but Daniel and Jackson both dropped some. Not sure how significant those drops will be in terms of rankings.

Negative. They only rated the 5 stars today. In the coming days, they're going to evaluate the top 247.

Where does this rank UKs class on 247?

They still need to fully update the 5 star list in the rankings. They haven't done that just yet, they just made a slideshow to show the new 5 star recruits.

Maybe the biggest question come August is who wins the LT job, Young or Leavitt? With the "loser" going to RT.

With a 6.1 and a 5.9 with some experience there are no losers for UK. I think we already have the center and guards, and Jackson if needed.

That would be an amazing jump, much more impressive than the five star. Hope it is all true, I would have been happy withe the five star, still a jump into the top 30 or so.

Not many OL ever get rated that high, not a glamour position.

I was the same. I assumed he would be a good left tackle someday, and it wasn't worth burning a redshirt to have him play right next year. But it looks like he has the goods to play right away over there. If he is an upgrade, not redshirting is an ok problem to have. We need to start winning and he could be a factor in that.

I don't remember who, but I do remember that it was a Tard fan. To his credit, he identified as a Tard instead of using the typical Tard tactic of concern trolling and pretending to be a "concerned" UK fan.

I've read several posts from card fans saying how our big 3 recruits from Ky are all vastly overrated.
Those tears are awful tastey!!

Congratulations Landon!! I am confident that we will see a significant improvement in our offense next year. We will be solid at all positions and I am looking forward to the change in offensive coaching. Go Cats!!

That is a huge jump. Kentucky is starting to put out some really talented kids and it couldn't have come at a better time. Stoops has pretty much locked up the state, starting with Jason Hatcher...that kinda set the tone on in-state recruiting. Never in a million years did I ever think UK could get Hatcher.

Let's lock up Wills this summer and turn the 2017 class into a top 15 class.

I'm with those in favor of Young playing this year. If he can help us win games, why not? If he's as good as he looks, we might only have him for 3 years regardless. If he and Drake are an improvement over what we have, gotta play them. Oline HAS to improve for this offense to work, heck any offense to work.

he can't get her soon enough. He better start from day one after the disaster we witnessed in pass blocking last season.

True fr starting at tackle? Hate to see him rushed into action. That worries me in this league.

Top true frosh start in this league. If he is the best at the position, we will be improved.
