Looks like Nunes is tired from all the winning.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes has stepped down from his role leading his committee’s probe of Russia interference in the 2016 presidential campaign and possible surveillance of Trump associates by the prior administration.

He said in a statement:

"Several leftwing activist groups have filed accusations against me with the Office of Congressional Ethics. The charges are entirely false and politically motivated, and are being leveled just as the American people are beginning to learn the truth about the improper unmasking of the identities of U.S. citizens and other abuses of power.

“Despite the baselessness of the charges, I believe it is in the best interests of the House Intelligence Committee and the Congress for me to have Representative Mike Conaway, with assistance from Representatives Trey Gowdy and Tom Rooney, temporarily take charge of the Committee's Russia investigation while the House Ethics Committee looks into this matter.”

He added, “I will continue to fulfill all my other responsibilities as Committee Chairman, and I am requesting to speak to the Ethics Committee at the earliest possible opportunity in order to expedite the dismissal of these false claims."

Good for him. I thought it was a bad move for him to do what he did, he should have taken pencil neck with him.

You mean the laughable, theatrical rushing to the WH to brief the WH on the "evidence" the WH supplied him? I thought it was great.

Who is pencil neck?

Good call by him. It's good to know that they haven't gotten rid of all ethics oversight in D.C.

Schiff! Looks like a pencil head on tV. I said it was a bad move on him. I would rather have former Prosecutor gowdy leading the committee anyway.

Except, they aren't allowed to address the committee personally. It's some weird quirk in the law, you can't answer your critic.

Gowdy still isn't leading. Interestingly, Gowdy is also on the Ethics Committee now investigating Nunes. lol

Gowdy never lost a case as a prosecutor. You should be happy!
Don't think he's in charge of the Ethics investigation, just on the Committee. Not sure how anyone could be "happy" that the chairman of the House Intel Committee is being investigated by the Ethics Committee.

PS - I mostly like Gowdy, but kind of got the feeling he was a camera ***** with all the Clinton investigations.

Unlike most on these committees, he was awake and fully able to ask a question. Some on these committees are way too old and can only hold a conversation if it requires nothing more than hello.

There is something I remember reading about the House Ethics Committee that really runs afoul of our constitutional rights to face your accuser.
