Okay, so what effect do you think this has on Desmond Fitzpatrick? The kid committed today, so it is possible that he knew that this was coming and it might have no effect. It could also come as a huge surprise and he might be wavering. Not saying he comes here, but what do you guys think?
I don't think Fitzpatrick knew about this news. Maybe it has an impact maybe not. We will find out soon since NSD is only 2 days away.

UL fans claiming Thomas is already pissed that it leaked before NSD, also saying he didn't work with the WRs (although he was the WRs coach lmfao) the spin is real over in tard land. They are also claiming he helped recruit NO ONE roflllllllllll

No impact. He has already told Loney as much.

So pissed that he decided to drive to Lexington to handle it face to face! And take a tour of our facilities while he's at it!

There are numerous pictures of him on the sidelines with play cards and headsets pretending to coach. He photographs well in many poses pretending to coach.

(Confused UL fan: don't you know that coaching takes place on the practice field during the week?")

Apparently Thomas didn't coach, got zero commitments, and is a horrible person.
How do you get a gig like that?!?! paid hundreds of thousands to (1)not coach, and (2)not recruit?

If he is as bad as all of the UL fans and UL media are saying, why was he still on their staff?

He isn't. He is with you guys. Jody isn't the only one saying that about Nick Petrino. Mike Hughes on 24-7 stated this apparently has been in the works for awhile and Nick has been doing most of the work. Hughes doesn't think we will lose anyone by this move. I guess we shall see.

Congrats though. Maybe he can land you some Florida guys. He didn't land us many, but he landed Lamar Jackson so I'm thankful for that by itself.

Lamar Thomas is a great recruiter but did/does little to no actual coaching of the WRs. Its an interesting move from all sides if true....Stoops seems to have more of a pressing need for actual coaches and developers than another pure recruiter.
Really thats what you all will come up with? Guess Nickki is the WR coach who develops the WR group at WKU and UL?

Not what I would consider the "great" hire that I was hoping for as the WR coach on the Kentucky's staff at this point.

I wonder if it is unique to this board or generally applied to all message boards but every time there is a thread about what someone said it is almost never accurate and it's not exactly what they said . I think this is true in life that as news gets passed from one person to the next the story changes and incorrect info suddenly becomes fact . Not shading the op but the % of this happening on this board is way too high .
remember the game "telephone?"

Which team. UofL Because I will be at all the UK games.. Your posts are pathetic
Sec 206 come join us...and you are welcome to make the road trips with the six of us..these coaching changes don't matter unless MS has figured out what he wants his offense to look like..I KNOW he and NB didn't see eye to eye

The fact that Lamar Thomas is leaving UL is no surprise; the fact that he is going to UK is a shocker. There is no secret here that Lamar was not happy with young Petrino assuming the WR coaching position this last year, and the fact that Lamar went 0-fer in recruiting Miami this year for the Cards speaks volumes as to where his heart and effort must have been focused. Lamar was extremely well-liked by everyone at UL, and known best as the "player's coach" ...........kids really like him.

Wishing Lamar the best as long as it does not have a negative impact on UL. I do think the timing of this change will be something that might haunt Lamar if he ever leaves UK and is asked to explain why he made this decision just prior to NSD.

So are you saying that Young Petrino is the next WR coach at UL to be announced any day now?

UL will not be hiring a new WR coach since they already have one according to you?

Louisville fans please stop making yourselves sound pathetic. This guy is an all time great wr at Miami and a 8 year nfl vet. You really believe for one second nick Petrino a highschool qb can teach wr better than a 8 year nfl vet? Just stop Mike Hughes is a homer Jody Demling is a homer they probably saw one practice and made an assumption. It is illegal for Nick Petrino to coach wr so your buying he is a better coach and he illegally coached wr while the real coach did what? Lamar just stood there crying I guess lmfao I get being a fan I love UK but just stop the spin it makes you look pathetic.

To add to that, many of us held those sentiments not because we actually believed Cal was bad. We were jealous because Memphis was getting top recruits and competing for titles while we were mired in mediocrity under Tubby and Drunky McGee.

Many UK fans took the cheap national narrative and ran with it. I was guilty of this in 2007. By 2009, my tune changed.
Yup

Why do people keep making up things? It's not "illegal" for other people to help coach - what do you those grad assistants do? They can't recruit off campus but surely can do everything else.

You are only alloted a certain number of coaches on staff anything over is illegal. You really are missing the point though but I wasn't talking to you so that don't matter.

Don't forget that the ul student suing that her degree was damaged by the scandal, was named Miss Ky yesterday.

Just wait until she wins the big pageant based on the human interest backstory of overcoming excessive whoredom at her university to reach her dreams. You will look silly.

By rule, only 2 grad assistants can assist in coaching. Could have 2 defensive guys, 2 offensive guys, or 1 defensive, one offensive. That said, you don't bring a grad assistant in who has never done more than sit the bench as a walk-on QB for his daddy's football team (and couldn't even hack it out there), has tremendous character issues, and 0 experience coaching wide receivers, or coaching in general, really, to coach your wide receivers, while a guy with Lamar Thomas' resume is on your sideline with the headset on during the games.

This hire is EXACTLY why I've said all along that a lot of our fans need to get off the silly Louisville 'rivalry' bandwagon. They have owned us in recent years and we haven't been to a bowl game in forever, yet we're still able to steal their coaches away.

Kentucky should never be on the same level as Louisville and shame on KENTUCKY for allowing it to happen. Hopefully they'll be able to assert themselves from this point forward and this silly 'rivalry' wil die like it should've always been

I don't doubt that for a second - you don't pay a coaches salary for a guy to hold a football all practice - just pointing out the silly part about it being "illegal" for a GA to coach.

I will never be able to take MJ seriously after the way he trashed Calipari in the past. The guy is a joke who will say or do anything.

One day enough UK fans will get fed up and run him off like Marc Maggard.
You are terrible.

Why does leaving for an SEC 2 days before signing day make one have to explain his decision or be something that will haunt him if he ever leaves? Like a coach would ever leave the NFL in the middle of the season and write a note to his players instead of telling them in person. Like a coach would leave an SEC job because he cannot steer a motorcycle due to the weight imbalance of having an engaged volleyball coach riding on the back with her fiancée raining down blows on the driver of the said motorcycle. Like a coach would secretly meet with Auburn while his former boss was still the head coach. Or after all of those would leave WKU after one year when they stuck their neck out and gave him a job only to have him go back to his jilted ex wife (U of L) who he crapped on previously. You mean that kind of haunt him? [eyeroll]

Somebody up above has this situation nailed. Petrino saddled Thomas with his boy to make him an asst coach. Thomas became tired of babysitting the little prick and decided to move on. I'm sure Petrino will find a sucker somewhere.
