What a life that man had. RIP Louie.
RIP Coach Carnesecca. Even when Mullins and Berry beat the Cats in the Tourney in '85, Lou was I guy that was hard to hate on. He was a likeable Coach. My St John's hate came from Mullins intentionally putting his thumb in Sky Walkers eye.
99 is incredible, I’m sure most people on this board including myself wish we could make it that far. RIP
I remember when he and Mullins took down UK and Sky Walker in 1985 NCAAT.

My cousin put it to me this way in a text this morning:
"I know it was to be expected, but raise one to Lou Carnasecca. One of a kind. Slowly the world will fully forget how great the Big East was which is a travesty."
As a true lover of college basketball, I couldn't have said it any better myself.

I definitely do as long as I’m in reasonable health, there comes a point where living isn’t great. Too many problems. As long as I have autonomy ok but if all my family is gone and I’m alone in bad shape I’d be ready to go I think. I am happy for him as he still had his loving wife beside him for 73 years which is amazing.
Yup, the Original Big East was the best conference ever. I always looked forward to that Tournament because it was a battle.

Lou was the original coach in a sweater which unfortunately led to Bobby Knight leaving plaid coats for sweaters, Bob Huggins wearing sweaters and the eventual de-evolution of coaches wearing half-zips and track suits and also where the quality of coaching seemed to regress in direct correlation to a coach's fashion sense.
I never really disliked St. John's until we were dominating them late in the first half of the 1985 Sweet 16 and Chris Mullin deliberately tried to gouge out Kenny Walker's eye. Walker couldn't see the rest of the game and we lost because of it (and why Walker would wear goggles for the rest of his career). Never had any use for St. John's after that.

Final Four in 1985. Georgetown had their number down the stretch. They had 3 losses in their last 10 games....all to Georgetown and all by double digits.
