Hell, they almost dropped football because they were about to go broke and then they started charging students an athletic fee to attend games. That's just irresponsible with that kind of money. UK envie can be a tough thing to overcome.

They beat an undefeated #1 ranked Oklahoma ending their 31 game win streak. And finished with a #1 ranking in 3 polls. That's why it's a claimed championship.
Not like Oklahoma was sitting ppl out of bowls back then like ppl do today.
Anyway...no one nationally thinks about louisville. They think they're relevant bc they used to be able to beat uconn.
Brohm isn't going to save them either...he had struggle wins all year, no ranked wins, and is playing in a conf title game bc that B1G division is hot garbage. (Funny card fans used to talk about the SEC east, and without looking at how awful the Coastal is)
The ACC isn't looking good going forward either bc Clemson is at a crossroads. Dabo has earned the right to stay there, but the game has changed with the portal, etc and he refuses to adapt. He also lost two Coordinators and instead of Going out and getting studs he stuck with promoting "Clemson men". Be prepared to be left behind. Of course, when Clemson slips uofl will mistakenly again think they're good if they beat them.

Have they ever finished a season by beating the #1 team or national champion? Have they finished 1st in a P5 conference? Have they really had a better history or is it just makeup on a chihuahua?
Individually they've had some great success. Heisman trophy, won some lower level conference titles, and had some great offensive players and coaching. I don't see it as a team though

UK has never hosted visitors on a minor league baseball field. You can't wash off that stain when you try to flex your program "history and tradition". Ahhh... the glory of contending for the MVC title!
