Louisville vs Michigan

Tough game today Michigan is better than Alabama. They shoot 3 pointers at a higher rate so we are going to have to protect the 3 point line. I would rather force them inside the arc. 2 pointers don’t hurt as much as 3 pointers. I hope we are ready for their trapping defense.

They like to force the ball handler coming up court to either side and trap in the corners. We need to try and pass over it 2 on me and someone is free. Movement will be everything in this game.

Both teams are struggling early defense for both teams are controlling the game

4:45 left in the 1st quarter Cards up by 7, Louisville starting to get in a groove offensively. Michigan still struggling offensively because of our defense and size.

End of 1st quarter Cards up 15-9 playing some great defense right now. Offense needs to be more efficient.

You called it about the Michigan press - they do a great job at it. What I don’t like right now is that we seem to be so happy that we’re getting it into the front court that we don’t attack. If they are going to press us, we’ve got to make them pay for that by getting to the rim and scoring as often as possible.

JFC … refs call a foul on Berry when a Michigan player trips over her own feet and falls on her butt. And then they call nothing when Istanbullouglu gets fouled by two different players when she gets the rebound and tries to go for the layup.

We led most of the 1st half but we end up down by 5 at the half. Our shots are going in and popping out. Michigan is having success on dribble drive. We have shutdown their 3 point shooting they only have one. Zeigler has been shut down and so has Randolph. Our scoring is coming from Elif, Berry and Roberts. If we can get everybody scoring we will be good. Michigan does have the momentum going into the 2nd half. How we start the 2nd half will tell us something.

The worst no call was when the Michigan player was on the floor rolling around with the ball and walking wasn’t called. They gave the ball to Michigan but Roberts stoled the ball and scored nullifying the bad no call.

I think we should try more inside scoring with Zeigler, Elif and Hardy. Let Berry drive the lane if nothing is there kick it out to Roberts.

Cards are doing that thing that this team sometimes does - crooked shooting. A bunch of open looks with none of them going in.

Wow … if we just hit half of the open shots we’ve had in this half, we are up 5 instead of down 23. Walz should stop the game and demand that the refs run a plumbers snake through that basket!

We tried to stop their dribble drive so we left them open on the 3 point line and they took advantage of it by knocking down 3’s. The biggest problem in this game was no rebounding we are getting killed on the boards. I think it is safe to say this game is over. We had a great year and I am looking forward to next year.

Even though the loss they just announced that all of the key players on the team are coming back for next year. Along with our incoming freshmen class and the players we are redshirting this year we should have a good team. We should also have the tallest team that we have ever had.

The only thing that could take out some of the sting of this loss is if sUcK loses to Texas after our game.

Have to admit that I was annoyed that we played the first game. Was hoping that UK was already done before we took the court!

Preparation or Execution?

Good question. My opinion is execution, because we know every one of the top 7 players on this team can hit those open threes, and two’s, and we were running our offense well to get all of those open looks.
