Season preview: No. 20 Louisville women's basketball opens season vs. No. 1 UConn

Head coach Jeff Walz returns for his 19th year coaching the Louisville women's basketball program. The Cards open the season ranked No. 20 in the country, bringing another year of championship aspirations.

Looking forward to this challenge. Tough one to open the season, however a great test for our youngsters.

Not a lot to be excited about in this one, but Laura Ziegler has been outstanding. 16 points and 17 rebounds with 4:35 to go.

We started off bad but finished with some fight Zeigler was impressive. I think this team could evolve into a good team with more games under their belt. I was on the road traveling so I watched 12 minutes of highlights. I wonder why UConn never plays Louisville on our home court.

We always play them at their place or on a neutral court. I have much respect for their program but fair is fair play at the Yum every now and then. It was a tough way to start the season but I guess we found out what we need to work on and what certain players can do.

Think UConn is scheduled to come to Yum next season.

We’ll see if it happens they were supposed to come during the Covid year but we ended up switching to a neutral court.
