Huh? When did enjoying a story about a devoted married couple raising a large family in hard times become a political statement? Good grief.

Because it's nothing but made up drivel. I'm sure about 10% is based on fact, the other 90 made up to extend the series. Again, the people who adored that shard were elderly who wanted to go back to those times.

Princeton spit wave hair dos, no one sassing (LoL), eating onion and lard sandwiches, everyone knew their"place".

Pure crap.

Hamner himself admitted the show took "liberties". It wouldn't have lasted that long if it didn't.

The Cosby Show. That piece of xxxx Bill Cosby playing a decent family physician. He should have played a perverted doctor who molested his female patients. I can’t believe a Black TV network/station has the arrogance to continue to show the reruns. This is not surprising given Crosby was a Black icon.
They still play Michael Jackson's music.

Naked and Afraid has to be the stupidest show ever. The naked parts are blurred out anyway.

Any show that runs more than 3 or 4 seasons usually gets boring because they repeat the same plot lines over and over and over.

Most reality shows have manufactured drama. However, if you don't have experience or background with something in life some may think it is exciting and keep watching.

Skag.

Once shows involve themselves in social engineering and PC, they go down hill quickly. Starsky and Hutch and The Equalizer went to hell when they stopped shooting crooks.

So many times they just happen upon an animal in broad daylight out in the open....so believable

My cousin used to say Charlie's Angels and Monday Night Football were the ruination of the American male

Once Alan Alda decided he was a comic genius, the show spiraled down
What is so bothersome about it is that they obviously knew what was funny because they did it for a few years. Then they just decided to go to cornball, hokey attempts at humor with the canned laughter. Some shows (maybe the worst show ever was Small Wonder, if anybody remembers that one) are just bad MASH was so irritating because it chose to be bad.

What in the hell are you even trying to say here?

Hey, @Tom McAndrew ... can we get a translation/ruling here? The above post could be entirely unintelligible Jumba gibberish, or it could potentially be one of the most offensive posts ever on this board.

So, just to be clear ...

You're angry that a FICTIONAL SHOW was "made up" (as fictional shows are)? Apparently, you wouldn't be satisfied unless this FICTIONAL show was historically accurate, like a NON-FICTIONAL SHOW that it never purported to be. And you think it was only popular because old people, who lived through those times, wanted to go back to those times ... even though, according to you, those times, as depicted in the show, were made up. So old folks liked it because they longed for a time they lived through that never happened.

Glad we got that sorted out.

Just about any evangelist show.

Their denominations?

Twenties, fifties and hundreds.

A couple of cousins and I used to play a game we called “HEAL!!!”. Basically, we just chased each other around and if you caught to somebody you smacked them in the forehead, yelled “Heal!”, and that person had to fall on the ground.
Man, I miss being young!!!

My list only includes programs that were popular, but bored me to hell. Bad shows are just bad shows.

The Big Bang Theory - Cute. I hate cute.

Modern Family - Not so modern, nor accurate.

Lost - Never got the hype

The Handmaid's Tale - The book was worse.

Glee - Misfits are misfits for a reason

Dallas - At least it was only one hour a week

Caillou - Even my kids hated this

John and Kate Plus 8 - I could only wish pain and suffering upon them. Does that make me a bad person?

Lost IMO has maybe the best first episode of any show ever - but, later it sort of collapsed under expectations; too many rabbit holes and plot points that were initially used to great effect were forgotten about and fans got upset. They, I think, didn’t have a real plan to land the plan so to speak which is why the parts are better than the whole and there are so many threads unresolved. Either way, it changed TV in a profound way.

When my kids were toddlers they were like, ‘Caillou complains a lot.’ We didn’t watch much after that.
