He’s fine being the backup pg and I don’t see him being the type to be good with that. The kid is made of glass, period. Spent last year at Pitt being hurt as well. Even if he were totally healthy he still isn’t the level of pg needed to win a title, as irrelevant as that now seems.

You can tell JMI is causing real problems in recruiting when this is the guard you get to lead the university of Kentucky. And to see mark pump this team as a beast when he knew that was not true at all. He’s aware of the mess with JMI and he’s out there trying to cover what he can so Mitch is shielded that’s all it is. Hope he understands the court is going to tell the story not his mouth.

All of the men responsible for this mess have to be fired at the end of the year or you are going to get more and more of this same result.

This group was before that jmi nil deal. We need a gm. A real one. We spent 22 million and got one difference maker. Even that was a huge risk because there was no guarantee he wouldn't have s setback.

Even with the Win yesterday, you really believe we’re going to win the title this year?
No. But I don’t believe we’re gonna win the title nearly every year. Because the odds are stacked against everyone in the wild crapshoot that is March Madness.

But that doesn’t make this thread look any better. So I’m not sure what your point is.

You should reread the entire first post. The second half is very relevant. If he’s not good enough, even when he’s healthy, then it doesn’t really matter anyway.

Whether that’s true is debatable. I don’t think we’ve seen enough of him yet to be able to fairly make that call …especially since we’ve never even once gotten to see him play healthy yet (and probably won’t until next season after he’s had the surgery and a chance to fully heal).

Regardless, it still seems a rather dumb time to declare that we don’t want back the player who’s been a big difference maker in this season’s two biggest wins …and after we’d looked utterly hopelessly abysmal without him.

I don't. I do believe the criticism of Lowe is a little unfair though, as he's looked pretty darn good the last couple games. Would probably lead the team in scoring and assists if healthy.
Such a shame, really. Both Butler last season and Lowe this season were looking great - in season for Butler and by preseason reports for Lowe- but are only able to play to a fraction of their ability because of an injury that doesn't improve.

Lowe is plenty talented enough to be our PG. I'd love to bring him back for another year. But what we need to do is actually get another viable PG to back him up with so that if he goes down, we don't end up with the same disaster we have this year. Lowe isn't and has never been the problem. Having zero other options after Lowe is the problem.

No one will win it every year but you have to be in the conversation most years. We haven’t been in the conversation much of late. Certainly aren’t this year.

I expect him to have shoulder surgery and be an outstanding senior for us.

Brilliant analysis as usual. If JQ decides on a second year of college we should give him the boot too(LMAO)

Oh the second half is relevant all right. The second half of the game, not the idiotic post.

Lowe 15 mins, 13pts, 3reb, 3ast, 0 turnovers. Basically the catalyst for the win, just like he was against IU.

It just so happens that the other bluebloods, aside from UCLA and Indiana (who can barely be called bluebloods anymore) are conveniently winning more titles than we are.

It's not that simple. There will be 10 damn good teams that won't win the title, only one team gets to do that and it’s usually the team that catches fire going into the tournament and all you can ask is that UK is one of those potential title winners. The answer to that, is yes, this team, when fully healthy, most certainly is capable.

It’s only December, let this thing cook before we throw it in the dumpster. We have a damn good defense and an elite rebounding team and eventually the offense is going to click. It’s awful right now, but there are too many good pieces for it to stay that way.

Its not even neccesarily that Lowe is good, bad or otherwise.. that shoulder is a mess and will likely need surgery. Which *should* be fine next year. But it also might be the sort of injury that puts a stop to Lowe's career as a basketball player.. and you just cant risk that. Kentucky needs a proven amd healthy guard next year. We cant put our hopes on Lowe.

Ideally, we could pay a few mil to a top25 PG player, and work him along during the season.

I get it, it's been too long since we were a legit threat, but let's not act like duke and uNC are hanging banners every other year. It’s been 10 years for duke and we were in that same FF. It’s been 8 years for uNC and if it wasn't for a crooked referee, that might have been our title.

Kansas won it a few years ago, but look at them now, they are trending down.

The only one really burning it up, is UConn and they are annoying everybody.

Zay has been awful for years. Been trolling the board ten plus years, dude must have a crap life.

Last time Carolina won it was the one they stole from us, cheating roofer and the last one duke won was when we didn't have to play them in championship. Kansas still has what like 3 or 4?

Uconn is the one doing most damage but that coach is so unlikable people love to beat him so I'm hoping he don't win another for a while.

JMI wasn't in charge of UK's NIL until they renewed the contract in August. Last year's recruiting and portal season misses were purely on Pope missing guys. JMI is just making everything worse going forward.

We need a coach that can run this beast of a program. Pope just doesn’t have it and the worst thing to happen to UK is thinking this season is ok as long as we make the tournament. A GM isn’t going to fix bad coaching or an inability to recruit.

How do people not have the patience to wait until the game is over to post these things?
