Lowe overheard: "It popped."

That was some stupid conjecture and is outdated info from what I’ve seen. Also, if you’ve got a bad shoulder you know:
A. How bad it hurts when it goes out
B. How quickly you recover from it.

Let’s wait and see what someone in the know has to say vs “internet doctor” who saw what we all saw.

can you elaborate? Must have been working or raising kids when this happened.

What was outdated about it? It's been stated by several people they heard him say it popped. You could tell it was basically limp at his side which is very common for a dislocated shoulder. It is also common for basketball players to get a dislocated shoulder from the type of contact he and Oweh had.

I would say most of what he said was pretty spot on. He will likely be out 3 - 4 weeks as long as it isn't bad enough to warrant surgery. He should be back around UL or MSU, but he may be limited at first. After last year, they may he more cautious and bring him back slower.

Huh? At least THREE people heard Lowe. What in the hell are you talking about?
It’s the severity I’m talking about. If you’ve had a shoulder separation you’d understand how much more severe the initial incident is vs say the sixth or seventh. Same with twisted ankles. First time you’ll want to barf. Tenth time you forget you did it next day.

I’d seen a number of actual doctors say you have to know what condition it was in beforehand. Outdated because it was an initial reaction. The coach gave more info afterwards and we’ll know more today.

Man, it isnt ideal, but we have other guys who can play the spot. I dont care if he and JQ are out till Feb as long as they are 100% when they do. We will be fine and have a shot at a run when they get back

Disagree. I’m already concerned about minutes continuity by the fact that we have our starting center out for a good chunk of the season. If the same happens to our point guard, our title chances will take a serious hit. We have to hope this is no more than a six week injury or so. Otherwise, it’s gonna be tough to keep pace.

It's pretty standard for dislocated anything to need a few weeks to he 100% again. That's pretty common of any semi serious injury not requiring surgery or not a broken bone.

Being the initial reaction doesn't make it outdated unless it's been updated information. I don't recall Pope saying what Lowe said was incorrect. In fact, the most up to date info we have is Lowe's own words.

Silver lining, this gives Jasper Johnson an opportunity to get better quickly. He looked pretty darn good last night, but with reps, he may grow up quickly.

Meh. He’s too weak to right now to play big boy SEC basketball, IMO. He needs to gain about 25-30 lbs. I would rather look at a different option for the PG position. I would go with Aberdeen, without question, over JJ.

Apparently a doctor courtside witnessed it and his best guess was 3-4 weeks. That puts him back at the Louisville game. Jones said that game is in the table still but could be Jan 3. That’s a worst case scenario for anything that doesn’t involve surgery. We all have to hope it’s a typical 3 week recovery with no damages ligaments or rotator cuff.

Jones knows zilch right now since it hasn't even been diagnosed. I know less than him about the injury but I do know this. Based on last year there's no way Pope will rush him back.

It sucks but it's not world ending.

We've got 4 dudes that can play point if need be

1. Aberdeen
2. JJ
3. CC
4. Noah

Granted, the further you get down the list the less ideal, but it's not like you had Butler and Kerr and then "uh oh".

I’d say it’d be Oweh before Noah. I love the kid, but he has no handle. Thankfully, I don’t think that should ever come to fruition.

True. Was just thinking in terms of production. I love Oweh to death but he reminds me a bit too much of Briscoe/Dilly at times the way he charges into the forest of guys and I'm like "Well, this is either going to be an amazing play or an amazingly head scratching TO."

Thx. They chose to put injury news behind their paywall. Douchy move.

However, again, Polacheck was the one quoting Dr. Mike last night saying "could be 3-4 weeks" or "surgery"

So, take with a ginormous grain of salt. I don't think anyone knows.....including Pope right now.

Take this with a HUGE grain of salt as this was the guy last night quoting Dr. Mike that it might need surgery.

Still don’t get the Polacheck thing. The guy is a Kansas fan and is hard to watch and listen to. I ignore everything that comes from the little Kansas fan ginger guy. Hope the source is right though.

I’ve got a buddy that should hear something soon. Gonna try him tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm not saying it's true at all. Until I hear Pope say something, I'm expecting Lowe to either be perfectly fine, or out for the season. That's where "I haven't seen him" and our terrible, awful, no good, very bad luck has left me.

I’ve had a lot of shoulder injuries and I’m looking at shoulder replacement now in my 50s. Hearing or feeling a pop can mean separated shoulder to dislocation to torn rotator or other cartiliidge. I had a serious dislocation in high school and needed surgery. Took me about 6 weeks to recover in order to play soccer. I probably needed an additional 3 weeks to play hoops

true story. We helping a buddy of mine clear gutters. I was on the roof holding the ladder and when he climbed up he told me a joke. He said why do ducks have tail feathers? I said now’s not the time. I wanted to go home. He said to hide their butt quacks. I pushed the ladder over to the side and he fell about 10 to 13 feet. I was 21 it was a while ago. Felt bad ever sense. Just wasn’t in the mood for a joke like that at the time. Didn’t want to help him anyway. Ended up twisting his ankle jumping off.

We laugh about it now.
