He is our coach no matter what I want. Again, I told you what I wanted. Still waiting to see what you want. And Pope being gone is not going to happen, so what else?
I don't want jack **** coaching who has his players, of any caliber, looking for other opportunities, which is happening. Ya seen chandler looking around? Yea. Mark Poop lives.

In my opinion you couldn't promise a starting spot to Lowe with the shoulder injury surgery. Maybe he returns and falls on that shoulder a 100 times next season without incident, but you can't gamble on that. But to be fair to him we never got a chance to see what Lowe could be last season. He never played a game without a shoulder barely hanging in place and strapped to his body. That effects every aspect of the game both physically and mentally. I still think if Lowe's efficiency number improved from his sophomore year he could be a top notch CBB PG.

Could have sworn he was one of those "two year" contract players from last year.

Oh well. Good luck to him. Was disappointed when he was our guy after the whiffs last spring and wasn't excited running it back with him. We can definitely use a taller, strong, less flamboyant type of PG

Pope didn’t think Lowe was the answer last season. He ended up with Lowe after missing on his main targets. It’s ok that he’s leaving.
It’s not OK if he misses “on his main targets” yet again.

If he couldn’t land his top choices in last year’s portal, why should we feel confident he will be able to do so this year?

He needs to land a serious stud PG to make this be good news instead of bad.

Suspect he wanted assurance that he would be the starting PG and Pope was not willing to assure him? Thought he was here on a two year deal? This above all else makes you wonder about the player selection for the 2025 team. PG who is not worth another year, a center with a known history of a a serious known injury who at best was just going to play a couple of months, and I guess we will see who else is pushed out the door . But how confident can we be going into the portal two-week period without a coaching staff? Home run hires and home run recruiting are the only things that will save Pope's job otherwise prepare for hard times in 2026-27. I suspect we will have some key recruits commit out of the portal but not sure that starting all over again will yield a better outcome.

But but he was injured and we would have won all the games if not
And it was Ridiculous when it was said. That kid is a ball hogin clunker. You see how these teams play right now? Lowe ain’t that guy and Mark knows it that’s why he’s not retaining him. Lowe would have added so many problems to an already problematic laden team. We can throw it in a wash and say “but he’s our starting point guard obviously it would have helped” but that’s without context whatsoever. The data on that kid isn’t good. He’s not efficient and this team had issues in that area.

They want everyone gone. But they also want to build quality depth. And they want to trash the players and somehow convince other players to ignore that and come perform for them.
I wanted Lowe to stay as a backup PG, depth. But…he wasn’t going to do that. Quality depth is going to be tough to achieve going forward for most programs.

How may times does it need to be said that Pope can't do the job here and that its not personal even though so many people get hurt feelings over it. This is not enjoyable or does it show promise, why prolong it

What we want is Kentucky caliber players who also stay and build a culture. But they have to be Kentucky caliber and he’s not. If you miss you have to re evaluate. This is 101 stuff, it’s not hard to understand.

Keeo guys who are Kentucky worthy and replace the ones that aren’t. Why is that hard? And spare the fanbases across the country speech, they are paid to deliver and if they don’t deliver they will be called on it in every level after high school. You don’t get to say pay me then complain when a fanbase said you aren’t worthy of it. I realize this is a change from the past I don’t like it either but the old timers are going to have to accept it at some point. This fanbase is lightweight compared to most dominant fanbases. Those fanbases would never put up with Barnhart for 24 years or refining Stoops for that long that I can promise you. They go ham and revolt and it’s messy. Kentucky isn’t close to some of these places and players have no problem playing there stop being emotional this isn’t about how you feel about people.

I thought it was a couple weeks ago he posted something about being back next year?
Either way, who is going to pay him the kind of money he got this year when by the time next season gets here, it will be over a year since he played.
Dang, it's like these kids get welfare in the millions to do nothing.

Isn't it up to Pope to decipher who should be here? Looks like horrible scouting based on what we're seeing today

I think it’s horrible recruting. Lowe was probably like our 3rd or 4th choice. I’d say Pope agrees because Lowe said he wanted to come back. Makes me think the conversation between he and the staff was Pope telling him at minimum he wouldn’t guarantee he’d start next year.

I think Lowe would crush it at a mid major. To me he looked like a less talented version of Ryan Harrow. (Harrow was actually a baller, but went through a rough time while he was here unfortunately)
