Wait, why would we question Pope? Isn’t this what y'all wanted?

Looks to me like Pope is growing a sack. He's getting rid of assistant coaches and players that don't fit.

Lowe literally said he was going to be back, now he's just entered his name in the portal, what does that tell you?
Jeff I could be wrong, but I think what he’s saying is with all the departures, not sticking with Lowe, the current state of things, shows Mark assembled the program as bad as you can. That he’s in “coach for your job” mode and so what everyone has been saying about him and his system is correct. I could be wrong but I think that’s what he’s getting at. He’s not questioning why he’s allowing Lowe to leave he’s questioning why he was recruited in the first place type of thing. Which, that’s correct, Lowe is not a very good player. Mark is admitting this by fist order of business is cutting him loose. Lowe at pg next season would end Marks job and he’s aware of it.

It’s basically happening how many of us said. Mark is in over his head, if he wasn’t he wouldn’t be scrambling to figure out how to do this in year 2. He’s getting help evaluating, he’s clearing coaches (at least not trying to retain), and he’s cutting fat fast.

I knew the second Mark hired Fox there were questions. Breaking a Saban rule day 1 is not how you build success. Fox was not the best hire for the job, that’s a guarantee but he did it to scratch his back. A failed Georgia staff making up half of our bench is not going to win at Kentucky.

I welcome the changes for sure. If he’s going to get another year I want him to throw everything to the wall. Now I think he’s a dead man walking I see no way a guy with his record can turn into a championship caliber coach overnight which is what he’ll need to do. But I’ve got no problems with him doing what, well, a lot of us has said for a while now. Mark just admitted a lot of things with these quick decisions and that was obvious to many early. But I’m as sure as I can be he’s going to be fired, I don’t believe the brass is happy with any of this and with a new AD pressure will be mounting to bring in a new vision. People need to realize we are STILL operating under the vision of Mitch Barnhart. That’s what mark is, he’s part of his awful legacy here. Nothing Mitch did is going to amount to elite basketball. So I’m out I think we’re just rearranging deck chairs on the titanic, Mitch dosnt do things to be elite. But I’m fine with the guy giving it what he has and throwing the kitchen sink.

36 games, 1440 available regulation minutes.
Lowe - 168 minutes
JQ - 68 minutes

Meanwhile Duke players are having surgery in March and playing 2-3 weeks later.
So you think Lowe should have just kept on playing?
Or
You think Lowe should have had surgery in January and came back right away?
Do you know anything about the injury Lowe had? Obviously you don't.

I will be blunt here. Kentucky played better without him . He is black hole, defensive liability and injury prone and worse always attention sticking wanting to be on the camera.

Good job Pope for letting him go !

I will tell you, though I was critical of Pope during his second year, so far I Like all his moves in the post season : saying he is focus is on retaining MM, AJ, CC and JJ, getting rid of dead weight on the bench ( the 2.8m useless assistants), signing Mason, now showing the door to JL. Good job so far!

Right, so Pope missed on some guys last year, brought some guys in he thought would work and they didn’t.
If Lowe doesn’t get hurt, we have a better pg and most likely don't lose 14 games.
I would rather see Pope clean house than not clean house. He's doing what we wanted and he’s still getting hammered on here.

I'll fill you in on something everyone else already knows… .we don't get to make the decision on who coaches the team next year. The sooner you understand that, the sooner we can all be spared from reading your garbage posts.

“Coaching for his job” 🤣

Well no crap. This team was flawed big time. He has to make major changes. At best I wanted Lowe as a backup. I doubt Lowe was up for that. I don’t have much faith, if any, things will change next year. Plenty not to like but when you beetch and moan when Pope does something he needed to do, you make yourselves look silly.

Agree with you here on just about everything grad. I think Pope has to pull out all of the stops to salvage next year and his job, which will basically be one and the same. I don’t know any assistants that will come for what could be a one year gig. Mitch has really screwed the pooch here and then he will be gone shortly. Mark has to kill it in the portal and I think he knows it. I feel bad for him but next year should be it. He is truly a dead man walking.

Honestly, anyone coaching UK basketball, should "pull out all the stops" every year.

Thank you! Nothing against the kid but I absolutely did not want him back. Too injury prone and isn’t the type player we need even when healthy.

I was hoping to see a fully healthy Lowe next year but I trust the staff has seen enough to have reason to look elsewhere. Could be a money thing or it's always possible they know from the medical evaluation and surgeon that the shoulder will continue to be a concern for him. Or they want to go try their luck with a right handed pg next year! Is Dink Pate right-handed?

I thought I heard Lowe say he was planning on coming back a couple weeks ago I guess I was imagining things.
