I'm currently in a masters counseling program, about 36 credit hours into the 70 hour program. I'm doing both the substance abuse and mental health treatment options....so far, so good. I'm wondering if there are any LPCA's or LPCC's here and if so, are you in private practice? That's somewhat of a goal for me after I get licensed. Thank ya paddock

I won't do substance abuse for 2 reasons. 1. I love drugs. 2. Most addicts will lie. I have no patience for that ****.

I'm a licensed counselor. 1) pick your practicum experiences well 2) Even when you graduate, the licensure process was somewhat tedious...at least for me 3)Won't you will need to work under supervision until you've done 1000-2000 hours of direct counseling? If so, that's an expense costing me $60 per hour...and I need 200 hours of supervision 4) building a practice is a slow process. I tried it, then decided to hook up with Comp Care. Steady flow of clients...they pay for supervision. Easier on the family's budget

You might want to consider a job with places like Comp Care, Pathways, etc.... They provide and pay for supervision; help you hone your skills, etc.... You can later go out on your own or stick with them.

$60 an hour for supervision????

I feel lucky. $25 an hour for 1500 hours. Ram depending on his state, rules will vary.

You could contact Comp Care in Floyd County, with the abundance of pill heads in the area, I'm sure they need all the help they can get.
