He's a top flight recruit. Is he a top 1 to 2 pound for pound? No but he's right up there. For those of us who are casual fans that don’t follow high school recruiting, can you provide details on this kid? High school rank? Etc.
Thanks.
Huh? Right up near top 1 or 2??? He's ranked #60 in the 2027 class alone. Top '27 HWT but not overall. He's a top flight recruit. Is he a top 1 to 2 pound for pound? No but he's right up there.
Potentially #1 ranked heavyweight next year as everyone ranked ahead of him is a SeniorHuh? Right up near top 1 or 2??? He's ranked #60 in the 2027 class alone. Top '27 HWT but not overall.
Edit: was looking at an old list. He is currently #93 on the big board.
Heard this about a lot of our recent recruits.. “we got a good one.” Not going to believe the hype until we see how said recruit looks up against NQ+ lvl div 1 wrestlers. This kid looks real tough and promising at heavyweight for Rutgers.Hope he comes here and progresses and does some damage. If guided right, he could be a multiple time AA.
His big board ranking never made any sense to me… if my eyes are wrong, he’s going to be the #1 ranked hwt next year after all the current sr hwt graduates. I never seen a #1 ranked wrestler at a weight ranked as low as #60-93 on the class big board. Yeah.. make it make sense.Huh? Right up near top 1 or 2??? He's ranked #60 in the 2027 class alone. Probably will move up to 50-60 range after the Beast of the East. I still never seen (next year) a sr wrestler the #1 at a weight class ranked that low on big board. I can’t think of any ever can you? Does it mean he hasn’t had many big wins in his career ? I don’t get it but at end of day guess it’s just a ranking.Probably will move up to 50-60 range after the Beast of the East. Just a guess
Understood, and yes, he is the top '27 HWT right now. I was trying to make sense of a non-sensical post. His big board ranking never made any sense to me… if my eyes are wrong, he’s going to be the #1 ranked hwt next year after all the current sr hwt graduates. How is it not sensical there, shat head. The kid has been definitely vaulted into the top of the heap, with his ranking after the Beast of the East win. You're such a pathetic loser that you have to play off even a positive post. You never got attention as a child or something? I also never said he was a top 1 or 2.I said he was pretty close. Learn how to read, numbnutts.Understood, and yes, he is the top '27 HWT right now. I was trying to make sense of a non-sensical post.
Haha Wng, u think this of all our recruitsI am just glad we got a good one!
I feel so bad about myself....lol. I never claimed you said top one or two. What was pointed out was #93 is nowhere NEAR or PRETTY CLOSE to top one or two. Didn't they teach you that is basic math? Or maybe they covered that a few years ago when you boasted about your special exemption to enroll in your engineering calculus course as a sophomore without an engineering major. Remember that stupid, made up BS under your third (?) handle here? Lucas is a good get for the program no doubt, and winning BOE is an accomplishment, but it looks like he was seeded #1, had no higher ranked HWT entered in the tournament, and beat wrestlers mostly not ranked in the top 20. Maybe you want to do a little fact finding before you keep putting your foot in your mouth. I guess reading comprehension AND basic math principles are not your strongsuit....double numbnuts. How is it not sensical there, shat head. Saw that. Thought Alvarez was stalling the entire match. He should win Jersey States, but I betcha Borgia from West Morris gives him a battle for 1st.Zalota dropped a close one to Alvarez 6-5 in the finals
Zalota was by far the better wrestler but Alvarez’s size won him that match. I will say I’m surprised Alvarez committed to Delaware for football because he has way more D1 upside in wrestling. UD is not a P4 program so I doubt he’s even getting NIL $$$.Saw that. Thought Alvarez was stalling the entire match. Delaware used to be a solid D1AA football program and had respectable academics. I heard the application portal has been slim the last 5 years, hence the reason they have really lowered their standards, academically and athletically.Zalota was by far the better wrestler but Alvarez’s size won him that match. Delaware is still D1 football and Alvarez may have NFL dreams.. he was also stuck behind 2 different guys at st joes ( who haven’t been world beaters in college ) so maybe he doesn’t have the confidence he can make it at D1 wrestlingZalota was by far the better wrestler but Alvarez’s size won him that match. I haven’t seen Alvarez on the football field but he just recently flipped from UMass to UD. Listed as a 3*. Given his size and athleticism shocked he didn’t have more action.Delaware is still D1 football and Alvarez may have NFL dreams.. he was also stuck behind 2 different guys at st joes ( who haven’t been world beaters in college ) so maybe he doesn’t have the confidence he can make it at D1 wrestling
Monmouth and Liberty are D1, but there are teams like Wartburg or Cornell College that can throttle them in football and wrestling.Point being that I surprised with his size that he didnt get more interest in bigger name schools. Being a 3 star recruit, he must be a good ball player, but certainly no world beater.Delaware is still D1 football and Alvarez may have NFL dreams.. he was also stuck behind 2 different guys at st joes ( who haven’t been world beaters in college ) so maybe he doesn’t have the confidence he can make it at D1 wrestling
He only wrestled his junior year of high school but after taking second at the beast and NJ States northwestern offered him for wrestling and many others were interested.I haven’t seen Alvarez on the football field but he just recently flipped from UMass to UD. I wouldn’t be surprised if some wrestling program takes a serious run at him especially if he places high at states. At the very least he could a good pick up for a Bucknell or Hofstra.
Unless he thinks he has a legit shot at pro football he would be crazy to pass up Northwestern wrestling. His football offer list was not great which means he would be a long shot. I know D1 wrestling is a grind but come on it’s Northwestern. Take the education if there is no pay day in sight. He only wrestled his junior year of high school but after taking second at the beast and NJ States northwestern offered him for wrestling and many others were interested.
He really wants to play football, I think he’s gonna be a great guard in college, I wish Rutgers offered him.
Is he a full 285? Bc the average guard in the big ten is 6’3- 6‘5 and 300 plus pounds.Unless he thinks he has a legit shot at pro football he would be crazy to pass up Northwestern wrestling. He has to cut to make 285…he’s huge and in excellent shape. Great gas tank for a heavyweight. Is he a full 285? Bc the average guard in the big ten is 6’3- 6‘5 and 300 plus pounds.
Monmouth is FCS (old 1AA) and a good one. Liberty is FBS same as Rutgers. Zalota showed better technique in the match but Alvarez can scramble and has low wrestling mileage which is a plus for a HWT. I’d be surprised if he ever steps on the field for UD he’s going to be a favorite to win states which will open up even more wrestling opportunities. He has to cut to make 285…he’s huge and in excellent shape. Whatever happened to the DelVecchio kid who committed to Rutgers and then bailed last minute to play football? That was scott's younger brother. Yeah, I remember his football aspirations came to a quick halt. And just never followed through with wrestling afterwards. A shame because he was a good talent.Whatever happened to the DelVecchio kid who committed to Rutgers and then bailed last minute to play football?
