Good luck to Luke. Gave his all when he was on the court and while it didn't work out that way he got his degree from NU and nothing wrong with that. Hope he finds a good fit academically and athletically for him.

Yup. Wish this guy nothing but good things. He played hard and did his best when called upon. Now go get your masters and your minutes, big fella.

This really puts the pressure on identifying a decent big in the portal. Right now, we would have a high school senior starting at center for us.

Was gonna suck to have to pay the tariff on him.

Good luck to Luke, who always did his best and represented the Cats! Hope you find a great landing spot.

Yeah, we need to find some bigs next year. ASAP.

This thread has become taxing, let's not get distracted from thanking Luke for his efforts and wishing him luck. I'm hopeful that he'll land somewhere cool (i.e. not another B1G school) and we can keep track of his progress and root for him.

Then it makes total sense that he decided to move on. If we get even one BIG through portal, his minutes would be limited. And if we got two, they would be gone

We can speculate as much as we want. Hunger got his degree in 3 years. Thats impressive and I congratulate him for that.

Certainly it implies that Coach Collins has connected with a significant big guy in the portal.
But that remains to be seen - and the quality of the transfer is unknown.

It could imply that Coach Collins has made it clear that one of the freshmen (Bennerman) is ahead of Hunger, but that seems like a reach at this point. At the very least Hunger would split time with a freshman center.

It could imply that Coach Collins had that talk with Luke Hunger and said "I just don't think you're a Big Ten starter" and Hunger just happened to have an exit ramp via graduation.

Or Hunger could just want to move on - regardless of Collins - and see what he can get.

*Verbal Commits has 1885 players in the portal, but not Luke Hunger
