I concur about roster strain/1 basketball per too many guards as potential dilemma if Luke returns per the Duval sweepstakes....In a sense it would mirror last year w/too many bigs on the roster IMO...We need chemistry for certain, something we lacked the majority of the year, save for 4 days in The Barclays Center!

You can never have too many bigs look at what Kentucky and UNC did in terms of rotating their bigs. Ours just never got shine due to whatever reason. Coach K is still the goat, but hopefully he can adapt and rotate more players.

It took us a few years but we are finally exactly like kentucky
Yep. Heaven forbid a kid work his *** off during the offseason, knowing full well extremely talented kids are coming in, saying he was not going to let that deter him to the point that not only did he force the hand of the coaches to start him all year, he was the best player, played himself into the only concensus first team ACC and an AA. After an inconsistent freshman year.

I have absolutely nothing against him leaving, he was the best player on the team and he will make good money. Just stating the fact that we are kentucky now, and that is a good problem to have as long as we get a lot of recruits.

Agree I loved watching Luke play and wish nothing but the best for him. But I admit I hope the best for him would be one more year at Duke

All this does is make it more likely that Duke keeps getting good recruits. A big reason UNC is struggling in that regard is because Roy doesn't seem able to put guys in the NBA after one or two years. By no means were guys like Tyus, Luke, and Grayson supposed to garner first round attention so early. Meanwhile, surefire NBA stars like Hicks, Justin Jackson, Tokoto, McAdoo, etc. were supposed to be tearing up the league by now. So while I wish Luke would stick around for the short-term benefits, I also appreciate the long game here too.

We didnt rotate our bigs like those teams....

Part of the fatigue could be related to the short bench we play...JS

Luke is back home, I am from his hometown and have seen that he is back, he wouldn't be announcing that he is returning from home just my 2cents.

I don't know if it " We become like Kentucky" or the fact kids are getting smarter and making buisness decisions on their behalf. You or I wouldn't turn them away either is K.
If I'm a four year Kid, I would go hard at these kids in practice and improve my overall game. Imo this is what Luke did. Imagine going against Matt Jones or Tatum or White in practice and still getting your offense off.
I hope more of the returning players take Luke's approach

Our roster turnover can only be compared to kentucky, and that's fine. We are two very similar programs that recruit five stars year in and year out. These recruits are good enough to go to the draft year one or year two. With the NBA expanding their roster sizes now there will be even more underclassmen declaring. We just have to stay consistent with our recruiting and take it for what it is, a new era of college basketball. The dynasty days are done, these kids are good enough to go to the draft and there have been too many examples of the older you get, the more your draft stock will drop and at the end of the day $$$$ talks.

...going out on a limb and saying bolden averages a double double ...

Hold on tight. That limb looks flimsy.

I love Marques and I'm glad he's coming back....not ready to say he's a double-double kind of guy simply because I don't see him as being an elite rebounder. He had 12 defensive rebounds in 157 minutes this season. That's really, really bad for a big guy.

I'd love to see him average six rebounds a game, to be honest. That would be really good, IMO.

I'm expecting him being a bigger offensive rebounder then defensive rebounder ..showed flashes of that last year ..with some impressive ones. I don't expect us to go to him on O much..This is expecting he can be where we need him on D though. If he does he will get a lot of burn and that's if he can get into better shape! Lol lotta ifs.. He should have a lot of easy opportunities to slam / rebound imo on O..Hard to rebound and block shots ..why I don't see as many on D.Ur probally right

So wouldn't more capable players inable us to do that ? lol I'm confused..
Coach K traditionally plays 7, maybe 8 guys, and that's stretching it. It's not confusing, just an observation. Maybe if Coach feels he can trust more guys then maybe more play. He only trusted 7 this season

With K though it doesnt seem to matter about volume of 5 stars, as he's more committed to short bench Mac referenced. Sorry you are "confused."

Why not give Javin, Vrank, Jack all a little more burn next year....

Another thing is if you bring in TOO MANY 5 stars IMO, you see transfers because others dont get chance....I just like to see the Zoobs, Lance Thomas types develop....OFC

Cue up the comments about hating our recruiting strategy and loathing the "good ol" days of having Jimmy stay 4 all 4 years.

This is a great post because it is so true. If luke came to Duke ten years ago he's here four years. If JJ redick comes to Duke last year he leaves after his soph yr also. Times have changed. Get yours luke and hell of a year!

This is true....I think what makes it so hard for many of us as Duke fans is we just figured Luke was going to be at least a 3 year player. He seemed to be kind of a throwback player to the days of old you just expected to stay and get his degree.

However his game just IMPROVED SO MUCH because of his work ethic (part of that throwback package), he was in a position he's understandably making the right move. Btw, Luke will get that Duke degree, I am certain!

Honest question: Is it worth the money to be on the paid board? Is the information that much different?

I look at it this way... I don't have insider but you can tell the people that do and don't .. while the ones who don't are concerned and panicking about next year.... the ones that do always seem calm.
