Luke did not have a good two games. I was so sure he would bounce back last nite, but he never got it going in Greenville. I am just thinking out loud here, but I wonder if this has ANY impact on his possible return next year....

I feel I CAN SAY after this weekend, his stock could rise even further next year. Perhaps the UGLY FINISH to the year will spur him on to return next season...

We've all been back and fourth about this. Luke simply is at his highest draft spot,16.

It isn't getting any higher and the first 14 lottery picks next season already locked up.

He will go first round either year but his stock is as high as I see it getting now'

Here's the deal the mock draft is a joke! It's been a joke for the last 15-20 years. They have guys projected mid-1st round and they end up going 2nd round because some unknown European ends up getting drafted and things are shot all to hell. Luke is not ready for the NBA. Some of you need to stop living like a Heels fan that every player who plays for Duke is NBA worthy. He's good but he's not great, yet. He needs one more year to polish his D and gain a tad more confidence. He does that and he's Top 10 next year.

I've seen worse go in the lottery and bust. Luke's draft stock is not gonna change he's a mid first rounder. That could be a driving factor for him to return but it's not gonna change. He's not gonna be an elite defender or get better athleticism, he can get stronger and a little quicker sure but he can do that in the league to. This isn't nothing more then an offensive league and if he comes back it's because he realizes he'll be drafted first round no matter when he decides to go. Everyone needs to quit acting like he can't get his degree on line or in the off season.

Luke was an offensive freak all year - I can't see him improving his game after another year. He should go.

His body of work this year is outstanding. However, I was shocked to see Luke turn in two consecutive games like this weekend. I still think its possible he returns next year in spite of whatever the majority views on this board.

Don't think no one is arguing he could come back just some believe even if he does his stock is going any higher. There is a downfall to staying four years of college when you get projected in the first round.
Your entire game is picked apart.
Freshman year to your senior year and if you haven't improved on your weaknesses in four years it don't help your stock.

It didn't hurt JJ. It didn't hurt Duncan. Duncan was projected Top 10 after his freshman year and #1 after that. He stayed all 4 years and did just fine in the NBA. The only people that thought it hurt Duncan was the two goobers that were sitting beside @CRAZIE4LIFE and I at the draft that year that said Duncan wouldn't be #1.

Besides who wants to go in the Top 10 and play for some struggling team that will trade you away in 3 years to get the next "guy" that is gonna take them all the way.

I wasnt talking about him staying 4 YEARS...I merely think the way Luke was pushed around and it shows a 3RD YEAR at Duke could do wonders for his game.

I think he needs to get a little stronger, and work on his defense. Plus there's been plenty of times when a bitter pill like last nite has coaxed a young man into taking care of unfinished business.

His defense does need some tweaking. I don't care what anyone says...Defense wins games. It showed last night. If you can't stop the other team from scoring, you'll lose.

When is the NBA draft combine? The input from that will tell the tale on Luke. If he get a first round grade he will and should go.To me the more interesting question is what Grayson will do.He is more than likely not in the first round, but does he want to come back and take all the BS

I don't mean to pick on you as lots of people talk about this all the time, but we need to stop pretending that being ready for the NBA is all that relevant a question when it comes to entering the draft or being drafted.

Brandon Ingram wasn't all that NBA-ready when he left. But guess what - devoting 100% of your time to basketball (and zero percent of time to worrying about your studies), as one can do when one leaves for the NBA, will generally speed up the process of becoming NBA ready. Sure, some kids will benefit more from an extra year of being the big fish in a small pond, but many others will benefit from being a full-time, paid, NBA professional.

The NBA drafts on potential, not on readiness. And 9 out of 10 kids who are told by teams they'll be lottery picks leave, whether they're ready to play in the NBA or whether they just have lots of potential.

In two years of NCAA Tournament play, Luke is 8-23 from the 3 point line. Perhaps it's just courts he's unfamiliar with. Idk.

What you said topps. Luke was never on a draft board this year until after Dukes so called pro day. He popped up in the early second round as scouts raved about how he impressed them and it was about this same time Bolden dropped to the second round then got injured and took off draft boards.
The columbine will be the tell all for at least three if not maybe even four of Dukes current players.

Luke ought to try out this summer and see what the feedback is.

Luke's future?

Is extremely bright, regardless of what he chooses.

Luke is middle round talent whether he stays or goes. Hard to tell a kid he should come back when you are a first round projection. I'm in the camp that thinks he should come back but that doesn't matter, it's not how things work anymore.

Unfortunately his last game or 2 is going to leave a bad taste in everyone's mouth, including his own. However, his overall body of work throughout the season has been phenomenal so at the end of the day he's gone.

South Carolina though showed he could really be taken out of his game.True they took most of our guys out of their element, but Luke was one I found most noticeably MIA....

Yes I'm not denying that the physicality of the SC game really got to him and took him out of his game. I was at the game and I don't know if it was shown on TV or not, but when K took Luke out one time he went and talked to him 1 on 1. You rarely see K ever do that during the middle of the game. It's usually the assistants that do that. It was a bizarre night for Luke and a sickening night for Duke fans all around. Thinking about everyone leaving, doesn't help either.

He's speculating just like everyone else. I feel both he and Grayson return.
I was speculating, hart was speculating, you're speculating that we can speculate. Now you got him all worked up because 3 people are speculating.

Good observation Baller- that was a rarity for K...I really sensed he knew Luke was out of synch....

Overall body of work? I hope you just mean his offensive body of work..it was very good

His defensive body of work is hideous..can't guard ANYONE and IMO he is weak...needs to hit the weights to play in nba

He can hit the weights in the league though! I don't think one team will draft him expecting him to start right away.

The one thing everyone is forgetting there is nothing he can't learn in the league that he or any other player will learn in college. If Luke comes back it will be for what he considers unfinished business not anything else well except a year closer to his degree

Do you have a direct pipeline to his family??? I mean if you do, fill us in officially. Otherwise I do not see whats wrong w/us speculating....

OFC

So let me get this straight, one has to have direct access to a players family to get a strong sense that said player is planning to leave? And then, 2 subpar games (while fighting illness) in the tourney override a whole season of work/performance and warrants a player to completely change plans, the same plans that numerous people involved with the program are aware of? Interesting take, if that is how you feel.
