Do the Bears have a chance especially with the injury bug hitting them Friday night?

This will be an interesting game. I believe if the bears can get pressure on QB it could be a close game either way I don't think it will be a blow out .I'll take Watuaga
29 to 18.

MA without one of top RBs in the State will hurt!

No firsthand knowledge but what I am hearing is Martin is out for up to 3 weeks with bruised MCL.
Also just heard today that Clabo is sidelined with a concussion.

Also, was told that Samuel Washington has been cleared for Friday night.
To keep this game close, Mt Airy defense will have to play maybe the defensive game of the year, and the late fourth quarter offense at EW will have to be on full display.

Watauga offense is fun to watch with all the shifts and trick plays. Defense has to be on their toes
This is what MA needs to watch for. Habich is great about lulling you to sleep and then hitting you with some misdirection. Plays will be going one way over and over and you just start to stop them and then he fakes a handoff that way and hands off a reverse to an h-back who was lined up where it looked like he was going to block. They don't pass much either, but he's smart and selective and he sees what the defense does and takes advantage of any mistakes. He's devious in a way that's frustrating for opponents, but you have to respect it.

This will be the 4th meeting between Mount Airy and Watauga.

This will have nothing to do with this game, but they met when Mount Airy was a 3A school back in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Watauga won 2 of those meetings, and Mount Airy won one. These games were playoff games.

1978 Mount Airy 8 Watauga 16
1980 Mount Airy 21 Watauga 14
1984 Mount Airy 13 Watauga 14

I have not seen Watauga play live since Habich has been the coach. I do know he has a remarkable record there. I have heard from reliable sources though, that when Watauga trades tape on Hudl that all those shifts and motions are not included. Seems weird for a program that has had so much success, but I guess if it works, it works.

I hate to hear MA has those injuries. Gonna be tough to hang without 4 if that is indeed the case.
I can assure you it is the case. #4 is OUT. Most likely Ethan Clabo, 6'5" 235 lb, is out, concussion. So, it will be a Friday decision most likely.

If both are out, Watauga can sail smoothly throughout the game as Mt Airy will have NO Chance. Might as well call off game and just register a 2-0 lost.
Other than eating at the Peddler before the game, not sure why we are even coming up the mountain.

#22 is a load in the backfield to bring down for MA. The game can possibly be respectful if he gets a lion-share of the carries in #4’s absence!
#22 can't be used much on offense as he is coming of knee surgery from basketball last winter. Also not sure on #1 playing status he is also injured.

But honestly I like playing watauga wish we still were. First year they came to maiden, I believe they underestimated us and we schock and awed them and threw them off . We beat them 47-0. 2nd year we went there and lost a good game 23-19. But mostly been competitive good games.

I just heard that Endurance (Mt Airy has that auto/Bus coverage) has predicted a Bus Breakdown to happen sometime about Wilkesboro. Not sure if just before or just after, but on Friday evening Endurance does not have any close-by on call repair people.
May be just a rumor but I am pretty sure that is what I heard.

When they trade tape on Hudl, it is their last game they played. Also, if You believe that the only film a team has on each other is the film they receive from each other, then you don’t know much about coaching and Hudl.

I don't think MA wins this game, but they could make it interesting. The injuries obviously hurt, but as we saw in the EW game it forced them to give the ball to others guys who have their own talents and abilities as well. Mason, Joyce, Oakley and some of the others are really good players too that just don't get as many opportunities because of how good Martin has been. And the new QB is really talented too, so if he has a good game and doesn't make mistakes, who knows what we may see. It feels like a give away game to me for them to just for it to test the offense out and figure out some things.. Pass deep, run some tricks of their own, test some of the other guys.

Realistically, I thinks it's 35-14 kind of game considering who is out. I will hope the defense plays lights out and Mount Airy offense finds some new ways to score and pull out a close defensive 21-20 type game. I will enjoy watching either way it goes.

This may be a game to see how good of a coach MA really has. Can adjustments be made for the guys that are out and how well does the team respond. Not saying that MA will win, but have the team set the tone early to let Watauga know you aren't just laying down. Sure it sucks that some of your top players are out, but next man up. I think MA can keep it a two score game as long as they don't fall behind quick. If they fall behind, I'm afraid it'll be an ugly game for MA.

They have an abundance of talent on that roster and yes, Rex it will be interesting to see who the ball goes to this week without Martin. Does Mason finally get a shot or do they ride Joyce all night? Do they attempt 20+ passes in this "new" offense? Watauga is well coached and so is MA. Talent probably equal with the injuries factoring, depth of roster probably favors Watauga. Interested to see the outcome of this one.
