Looking like the Jewel of our 17 class. Mac Jones is a Must Get and Hold on to. Big time player going to get BIG time offers.

Fantastic news! I've got a good feeling about Mac Jones and think he will stay loyal to UK, even though interest and offers from some big fish are likely to come. And that makes me very happy, as this kid is a stud and is going to be a part of something truly special here at UK. Just picture his skills combined with the protection of this terrific offensive line we are assembling. It's gonna be dynamite.

Looks like the Gran/Hinshaw hires are saving the day Mac after the Dawson departure. Great!

This. I think he will be. Kid is the real deal.
I agree you can't teach this kids arm talent. When I first saw a pic of him early on I said this kid is a reach. Once I saw his videos I said holy ish I've watched 1000s of highlight film of some of the best quarterback recruits in the country over the last 15 years and this kid has elite arm talent and will only get bigger. The ball absolutely just zips on target. This kid may be the best pure passer in this class. It almost looks strange watching him throw with his slim build.

I loved that quote "CMS and I got married today" - When he becomes a 5 star after the recent invite to 5 star camp - this quote will be even BIGGER!!!

This can't be true. Just a few weeks ago one of the numerous "experts" employed by Rivals said something like "I don't know where Jones will go but it won't be Kentucky." Of course, to find out what this recruiting pro really means will cost you money but somebody has to do it, right? My guess is he's basing his comments on Jones not being offered by any of the Big 3 Florida schools and one will swoop in at the last minute and take him away. Doubtful but we'll see.

In the meantime, welcome Mac Jones.

I don't usually play the roll of negative Nellie, but my real fear is that Gran will be a one and done. He is destined to become a Head Coach in my opinion and if he has a great deal of success here next year, then this may be the only year we have him. I want to add this, I HOPE I AM WRONG!!!

i also hope this too - but I am also of the ilch that he has had multiple opportunities to be HC prior to accepting the OC here (or Cincy even).

I think he is one that sees more stability for his family at the Coordinator spots than a HC spot

For what it is worth, I think Gran will make an excellent HC when his turn comes. He seems to have the right personality and perspective to be an effective leader. I don't know a lot about his coaching ability, but I love what I have seen from him so far!

I really don't think so. Gran's a little older now, has settled in to the asst's role. Hinshaw is the one who'll probably get HC opportunities next.

Someone has said this earlier I believe but it bares repeating...the most impressive thing to me about this kid in his highlights is the fact he rarely do to have a clean pocket and he's still making plays. He clearly doesn't in taking a hit.
That is a skill and mindset that is crucial as he moves on to college and a league like the SEC where he'll consistently have pressure.

So often you see these highly rated high school qbs coming from programs that dominate their competition and the qb has all day to throw with a clean jersey. And more often than not they flame out in college. Give me a guy like Jones any day who will take one in the chops and not blink!

FSU just got a commit from Baily Hockman (Ryan's nephew). Not sure about UF and Miami. Womack and Rob Cassidy are way more involved in Jones' recruitment than analyst/reporters should be.

Yeah, those in-state schools have gone elsewhere. UF has a 4* QB committed, Miami two 3*s, now Hockman is taking his mullet to FSU. I'm glad UK has Jones.

Gran was one of the top 2 candidates for the Southern Miss job a week after he accepted the job at UK. He will be a HC years before Hinshaw is interviewed for a HC position. Hinshaw will need to prove himself as a coordinator before he can be a HC

Gran turned down Stoops the first time he came after him because he had just got to Cinci. Gran is loyal to his friends and has proven that he won't leave until he feels that his job there is done. Unless he gets an offer that he couldn't possibly refuse he will be here at least 2 years but I'm thinking it's possible that we could keep him 3. I'm sure Hinshaw will be the top candidate to be our coordinator when Gran moves on to be a HC

This. Issue is when EG accepts a HC job is whether DH goes with him or UK can keep DH as OC. I think latter as a) DH needs to prove he can do the OC job w/o EG at some point & b) his good size family needs some location stability imo.

I see Hinshaw and Gran as attached at the hip, should Gran move on to a HC position I would bet Hinshaw would be his OC
I can see that happening too. I'm sure that it will happen if we don't offer Hinshaw our OC position. The issue with Hinshaw following Gran is that Gran will land at a school that can't offer Hinshaw as much as he makes now in all likelihood. Hinshaw is making 400k a year right now.

DH & EG were only together 3 years b4 coming to UK. They are joined because Stoops wanted them as a package only. DH had EG's UC OC job but Stoops got DH a bigger title than just QB's coach so he could pay DH significantly more than the UC OC job. The +$ & the SEC made the choice easy. When EG gets a HC job, DH will have an OC job somewhere.

I think this is right except I can't see Gran proving himself in less than 3 years. And if he proves himself, Hinshaw will have too. Wouldn't surprise me if this situation hasn't already been discussed.
