So you think Erwin will match up better with the #5 6A team than they did with the #9 5A team?
Erwin is good, but they have definitely set the bar high in scheduling tough teams. If they stay healthy, that could pay off in the long run but might not be pretty in the short run. Hope they bounce back strong, Franklin and ACR follow this game so there is no breaks in tough teams coming for a while.
Correct, I am an Asheville fan, and I don't remember saying anything disrespectful about Ooltewah. I gave my opinion as a fan based on 4 videos I saw of their games. Having seen Erwin dismantle many teams in the past I don't think I was out of line in picking them to win.
Everyone on here had Erwin winning except for BD warrior. Saying that Ooltewah hasn't played anybody, Erwin is going to be able to throw on them, Ooltewah doesn't have a good offense, etc. The game wasn't even close. Maybe yall will do better against Science Hill. They aren't sure as good as Ooltewah.

Swipes had quoted you and was making a point about how people weren't giving Ooltewah props, and I just mentioned you weren't an Erwin fan since it was your quote. I guess saying the Wr can't catch, the QB isn't accurate, and the team they have played looked terrible and made Ooltewah look better than they really are? That's called disrespect in tn but Ooltewah served up some humble pie
Yes they will have a better chance next week. Science Hill is not a football power because they play 6a. Elizabethton almost beat them.Science Hill lost some good players from last years team. Like I said they have Maryville the next week they might be looking ahead.
Everyone on here is not an Erwin fan (including me). Several folks had Erwin winning that weren't Erwin fans and made comments to that effect. I believe only 2 Erwin fans even posted about the outcome and one said they'd lose and the other said he believed they could pull it out for a win at the end if they played hard.

I was at the Knoxville west game against Asheville last year. Asheville gave west all they wanted. Their coach after the game said "Asheville was alot more physical than I thought". As ahsdynasy said, in the 4th quarter we were about to make it a 6 point game with the ball in the redzone and then turned it over

And at Elizabethton they turned it over going in to score to make it a close game but you guys won 49 to 28.I guess they gave you guys all you wanted.
They did give us a tough game. It wasn't a blowout like you tried to make it seem. Let's get back to talking about tonight's games and not games from last year or 5 years ago. What happened to Erwin? Is this team just that good or did it just snowball?

Same to you Swipes. And for what it's worth I really wasn't trying to disrespect the Owls. The film I watched they didn't look all that good. I haven't seen Erwin get blown out that bad in quite a while.

Ooltewah looked much like Byrnes when we scrimmaged them several years ago. I don't think they were as good as Byrnes, but physically we were no match for them. #11 and #5 are very good and I can see why they are being recruited. We moved the ball okay at times we just kept turning it over. Two pick sixes and a few fumbles on their side of the field and it was out of hand. Hopefully, Poore will be back next week and hopefully our linebackers injury isn't season ending.
Did Poore not play in the game? I wasn't there. Did you guys go with your usual spread or did ya'll run the ball like last week? Just curious.
Isiah Poore needs to come to Asheville high. He plays running back on a team that is gonna throw it 40 times a game and he could come to a team that he will get the ball 25 times a game. Makes sense to me.
He did and actually had a few decent runs, but early in the second qtr. he was returning a kickoff and got tripped up and fell hard on his shoulder. He went back in for a play or two but it was hurting him pretty good so he sat out the rest of the game with ice on it. With their size and speed we weren't able to run much, so we did the normal short passing thing and moved it down the field ok at times. The way that defense is built with their stud linebacker and safety it would be very tough to run on that team. We did score the first TD on them this year and against their first team D. They kept their starters in on D to try to preserve the shut out but pulled them once we did score. 2nd team offense played whole 2nd half for them.
Macfan1..., it's tough playing a against a team with 75 players huh? Last year west high school brought 2 full youngs buses to Asheville high. Not one player went both ways. However I don't see how these Tennessee teams have 80 players but only have 1,600 students. I don't see Roberson or McDowell up here with 80 man rosters.
It's obviously a different culture in East TN. They brought a pretty good crowd considering its a 3 hr drive. The game really did snowball on us. The early turnovers close to their endzone got the score out of hand quick. They flat out know how to physically prepare kids for football.
Last year when we played west high school, they brought 75 players over and not one of them was a little shrimp who was just happy to be on the team.
I think kids can play 6 quarters a week in TN. So a lot of the kids on a team could be Freshman and Sophomore. In some cases 8th graders can play.

Know that Erwin has gotten rid of the cup cake schedule. Guess what? They get beat. Get ready for another loss next week.
